Do you think I can die from tiredness?

I an 27 weeks pregnant. I have spd and killer heartburn. DS and I are both recovering from colds. I haven't had more than four hours (very broken) sleep per night since Saturday, and I wasn't exactly well rested before that.

DH is away till Friday. The house is gradually turning into a bomb site.

DS will only nap in the car or pushchair, and I have no energy to take him for a walk (can't get him back in the house without waking him anyway) so no way I can nap when he naps.

I have handed him a box of breadsticks and put night garden on while I lie on the sofa and groan. The breadsticks are slowly being ground into the carpet but I don't care.

Please remind me that I will one day sleep again!

It will get better - but I dont know when! My mum said this morning that I look better today than I have in the past 12 months! The result of a non-sleeping toddler + stressful FT work + am 19 weeks pregnant

Any chance your DH could take your DS out a lot over the weekend? i was recently ill and spent 3 days in bed and it was fantastic. Only worked cos my parents had DS tho

I'm sitting in Tesco car park while ds naps. At least it's quiet.

I very much hope I can get a bit of a break at the weekend, but I suspect dh is going to come home complaining about how shattered he is from his hard week at work (which is true) and then list all the work he needs to get through over the weekend :( He will take over night duty with ds though, so that's something to look forward to! Just the heartburn and pelvic pain to keep me awake :)

I know it will get better eventually, but if this is pregnant+toddler, what fresh hell will newborn+toddler be?!?

I normally post my crap on the preggo rage thread, but I just don't have the energy to get angry.

If it's a any consolation, newborn + toddler is a million times easier than pregnant + toddler. You can catch the toddler for starters.

Yes newb plus toddler is a delight in comparison to that kind of tiredness you describe, hope weekend eases it a bit, even if dh is busy, he will be in house? Maybe you could self gift/treat your way through it? Beans on toast, eggs on toast, soup and a roll, fruit etc for the toddler, yummy takeaways for you? Use cbeebies and if you are up to any tidying choose one job In one room at a time and forget the rest.then sit down again. Good luck!

When i had my ds and dd was only 3 still, i used to drop her at nursery in the avos, put ds in car then drive till he slept, then park in driveway, lock doors, recline seat and sleep as long as he did! Maybe u cud try doing some driveway napping, my neighbours probably thought i was nuts but i didnt care and it was those little rests that got me through the early days.

I am way past the special kind of hell that is pregnancy sleep (Ha!) but just wanted to say if it killed you I'd have gone long ago. As an insomniac I can vouch that you can go on for years and years on 5 hours and under total sleep. And you even get used to it!

I hope you get some sleep and relief soon.

Inglori0us · 12/12/2013 10:10

I'm in a similar boat. My dd had chosen this exact time to stop daytime napping completely. We are having a lot of cbeebies and walks to Costa for cake and even the occasional real caffeiney gingerbread latte for me.
My DH is often away for work. I go to bed at 8.30pm.

My friends have all reassured me that baby & toddler is easier than pregnancy & toddler. I'm holding on to that promise as if my life depends on it.

I'm also desperately clinging to that inglorious!

I am so tired today I am almost hallucinating and I am in pain from head to toe - I don't think there is one part of my body that doesn't hurt.

I cried into ds's porridge this morning because I didn't think I could stand up long enough to finish making it. That is as ambitious as our meals got today. We had peanut butter sandwiches for lunch and fishcakes with bread and butter for dinner. I couldn't face preparing vegetables so we've eaten apples instead. I don't think I'm going to be winning any mother of the year awards any time soon!

Oh, you poor thing. I do hope you start feeling better soon.

I darkly suspect you of stealth boasting about today's food though [wink really don't beat yourself up about that, it sounds pretty balanced! Apples actually have ALL the vitamins in the world in them. Trufact Smile
