Mucous plug? How long was it before you went into labour from losing your plug?

Hi all, I am 39+1 and am convinced that over the last 3 days I have lost my mucous plug, especially today. It is not bloody but very thick and nothing like anything else I have had during pregnancy. Was just wondering if a) this sounds like the plug and b) how long it was between that happening and people going into labour? All thoughts much appreciated! Emma

Yes it sounds like it. O lost mine with my waters, and labour started immediately, but some people lose it weeks before so you just can't tell.

Good luck!

I lost mine on 28th dec. (Was only 33 weeks) waters trickled week later, doctors convinced it wasn't waters.

Anywho had to be induced on 10th jan due to infection (from.waters leaking) she was born that day.

I had a show st about 1230pm. Labour started about 3pm. Baby arrived at 7 pm...

Good luck.

Thank you so much - hoping it's soon, just trying to work out if its significant or not! :-)

I didn't have a show with DC's 1 and 2 but with DC 3 the plug went at 36 weeks.

Sorry if this is tmi but it really was like a sort of plug! A sort of tube of jelly streaked with blood. I then had stop-start labour for 2 weeks and DS was born at 38 weeks.

Hopefully your baby will come a bit quicker than mine did! Good luck.

Now I'm getting what feels like bad period pains... not cramps... that dull ache I used to get when I had bad periods... anyone else had that? Its definitely not like a cramping / contraction... Hmm!

Ooh that's how my labour with ds2 started! So I got in a nice warm bath to see if it eased the pain, thinking i had just done too much and walked too far that day or something. Ds2 arrived 5 hours later Grin

Good luck emmac!

I lost my plug around half 9/ 10 in the evening. My waters broke about an hour after. Had DS at 5.07 the following morning. My DP was actually on the phone to the hospital telling them about my show, as my waters broke, at which point they told me to come in straight away.

Wishing you luck too Smile

How are you emmac? Been thinking of this thread and wondering if you're in labour yet. Fingers crossed!

emmac3616 · 11/12/2013 22:17

Sadly not! I am getting more and more period type pains but that's about it... crossing my fingers for some progress soon! :-) Thanks SicknSpan

Good luck, this is certainly the beginning of the beginning...rest if you can, you'll soon be busy in established labour. This is a slow build up, good time to repack, eat and watch rubbish telly xx

Forgot to add, first baby lost plug and baby came 24 hours later. Shorter gaps with subsequent babies.

If you can't rest comfortably, mooch around the house listening to music/radio to occupy you.
