I'm 34 weeks, a short person who is measuring big and my bump is ginormous. It sits right underneath my boobs and when I wear a bra it digs in really badly and hurts, or my bra rides up and hurts my boobs. I've tried a bigger back size and I've tried bra extenders and they don't help. My bra is either comfortable but way too loose and offers no support, or tight enough but then it hurts.

I don't wear a bra at home, but I need something to wear out the house so I'm not indecent Blush

Does anyone have any ideas? I don't want to spend £££ as I've only got 6 weeks left. I plan to breastfeed so would spend more if it's something I can wear afterwards & feed baby in.

I used to wear nursing vests in summer when I was in my final trimester. Even now I only wear bras when out and about. I am far too sensitive as I am breastfeeding. Bras have always driven me flipping mad, and I figure gravity is going to succeed one day so I might as well just accept it and be free!

It shouldn't be too early to get a breast feeding bra fitted. You can also get night maternity bras as well which are soft. Or try a sports bra? One of the vest style ones?

I wore this one for nearly all of my pregnancy (hmmm and maybe when i stopped breastfeeding ie now and refuse to go near normal bras again!):

When nursing:

Hope you find something.

A vest won't fit over my bump. I tried some in H&M and they won't go anywhere near me. I'm huge - think Mr Greedy with boobs :(

I have some breastfeeding bras from my last pregnancy, but they're still uncomfortable around the band, even with a bra extender on. It's the band that's the problem as there is no space for it to sit comfortably between my boobs and bump.

What's a night maternity bra? And can you wear them in the day?

Something like this

I wouldn't wear one during the day but I am a 30GG so need loads of support! You might find it more comfortable than going bra less.

You could try posting on Style and Beauty or hijack one of the bra threads on there to get StatisticallyChallenged or SorrelForbes - their knowledge of bra brands, styles and sizing is encyclopaedic and I wonder if the right non-maternity bra with a very narrow band is out there or maybe your problem is related to cup size rather than band.

I've just bought some lovely soft bra tops in Sainsburys. They are very stretchy and have just enough support to keep you comfy. Fine for sleeping in.

I'm normally a 34H, bit bigger right now as I'm 37 weeks pg and I'm rocking the L size - they went up to XXL so I should think you'll be easily able to find one to fit.

puntasticusername · 06/12/2013 21:53

Forgot to say, they are £5 and Sainsburys has 25% off clothes atm so they were totally bargain-tatious!

Oh and (I know I know sorry sorry sorry) I was also thinking about bf so have practised hoicking a boob out and yes...seems fine!
