Anybody else got a dodgy nose??

From as early after my BFP as I can remember I had a really uncomfortable blocked nose and would occasionally have the odd tiny nose bleed too. It lasted for about 3 months (God it was irritating) but I read somewhere that it can be normal in pregnancy so didn't worry too much.

However, over the last week (I'm now 24 weeks pregnant) the stuffiness has reared its head again and I am all blocked up again. I haven't had any active nose bleeds but when I blow my nose there is always some dark red, dried blood in the tissue - like crispy snot bits, lol.

I just can't understand why it has started again.

Has anyone else had this??

Someone said to me that it's an overproduction of overall mucus in the body- i'm 12 weeks now and have had it constantly. Runny nose but yet still blocked and then crusty too.. nice. I dont 'feel' that it will go away at all, ever, if that makes sense! The worst part is the inability to take Sudafed, which always worked for me in the past. Sigh

Not particularly blocked up, but I had constant nose bleeds when I was pregnant, both times. It did go away after I had the babies. Can't remember how long it took though.

I'm 32 weeks and constantly blocked up. Have been for about 10 weeks Hmm

no good news unfortunately. Sad I am now 36 weeks and gave a blocked nose especially at night

BookTart · 04/12/2013 15:00

Yep, I've had this from about 6 weeks and I'm 35 weeks now. I'm constantly snuffling into a tissue and now it is making me snore at night too. I'm such a hottie right now Grin

I've heard of this. Think it's called pregnancy rhinitis.

wispaxmas · 04/12/2013 16:04

You've got loads more blood no anywhere there are lots of capillaries (nose and mouth for example), you're quite likely to bleed in pregnancy from what you might consider minor irritation.

Other than that, totally pregnancy rhinitis. Though, I thought it died down after first tri? Maybe you're coming down with a bug?

I have sinus problems anyway but since about week 10 I have been bunged up more than usual. I spoke to the doctor at the hospital and they said it was OK to use nasal sprays as they are localised and won't do any damage.

I have had to succumb to one decongestant tablet as I thought I was going to die(!) but other than that have managed with Otrivine. I actually think I have shares in the company now and I am just hoping the extreme stuffiness will go away once bambino is here.

I had runny nose all through 2nd preg.dd is now 16 and I still have it.

Blocked nose here too, since about 16 weeks (33 now). And a lot of thick mucus in the morning, and some blood like you describe. I never normally have any nose problems or allergies so it's all new to me!
