Hi everyone,
I am 6 weeks pregnant and need to pick a gynaecologist to see throughout the pregnancy. We live near kingston, so kingston hospital seems like the obvious choice. Can anyone recommend a good gynaecologist? I have hypertension and take medication for this, so didn't know if any gynaecologist specialise in dealing with hypertension as well

I have Andrew pooley at Kingston, I had him in my last pregnancy too. He's amazing. The fact I have him again though is just sheer luck as the nhs allocates you a consultant. Most people never actually see theirs though.

Thanks for the reply, reassuring to know that you had a good experience at kingston. I had previously heard of Pooley, I know his clinics are always very full. I have been to my gp to inform them of my pregnancy. I am unsure what happens next , do I see someone else before my first scan at 12 weeks ?

I was referred by my GP to Kingston, they sent me a letter with booking in and scan dates. I think I got the letter at about 9.5 weeks, booking in was at 11 weeks - seemed like a long wait as I just wanted to know my scan date and have something to aim for! At booking in the midwife decided I should be consultant led (hypothyroid) and I saw the consultant at 16 weeks instead of the midwife, then they dictated which of my appointments would be with them and which would be GP/midwife. Tbh I don't think you get any say in which consultant you see unless you're private, I certainly wasn't given a choice. I have dr Fleming and she has been good and very friendly but my condition is pretty straightforward so I haven't seen her much.

Thank you for extra info. Just waiting to receive letter for the first scan. Getting the letter will make it feel more real ! The hospital says they have a backlog of letters to send out as lots of people are having babies in apr and may ! I guess as long as the letter comes before the 11 weeks I should be fine :)
