Just wondering what courses people are doing/have done or if you've heard anything positive or negative about the local NCT or Birthmatters classes?

I've just done a NCT re-fresher course in Berks have to say it was brilliant. Teacher was utter brilliant.

Well worth it. Lovely bunch of people too!

North Bucks here, so probably the wrong area for you, but I've done an NCT class when pregnant with my first DC and it was great.
Not doing anything this time though as it'll be an ELCS and the NCT don't really cater for that! Wink

I lived in Maidenhead and did Birthmatters on the recommendation of my midwife, and it was fab!! The group was Bourne End, Flackwell, Marlow and Maidenhead couples which is where we hung out. If I'd done NCT I'd of had to go to Slough, which I wasn't keen on.

I'm having a ELCS too, but did the re-fresher course to meet some new people as we've moved since having DD.

We can only do the NCT Essential course in Slough but they have the Signature one at Norden Farm in Maidenhead. And the Birthmatters one is in Maidenhead (that's where we are).
I didn't realise how expensive they are! No idea which to choose, I hardly know anyone here so no-one to ask

I found BM very personable and not too airy fairy and the instructor treated us like her friend. They have a buddy system where a mum from a previous group organises a get together for your group and helps to set up regular coffee mornings (if that's what your group wants) My group met up weekly from when DD was 2 weeks till they were 1, if you couldn't make it no big deal, I made some really good friends too!

They also covered C-Sections in detail which was really handy cause quite a few of us had them (me included).
