Seeing the Midwife

I am after some advice. I am currently 9+3 and saw my GP to register my pregnancy 4 weeks ago. She told she I would be referred to the midwife and she would be in contact with me to arrange the booking appointment and scan etc between 8 and 10 weeks. I have not heard anything since so rang my hospital widwife office who told me the midwife attached to my doctors only works 2 days a week and won't be back until the end of next week and that was it.

Am I right to feel a bit....worried/confused? Me and my partner will need to arrange time off work in advance etc and I can't help but think things are being left a bit late. Should I kick up more of a fuss or just wait?

I paid for a private scan at 8 weeks as was too excited to wait but just feel things should be moving a bit now? Or am I just a worrying for nothing?!

They can be pretty slow: I didn't get my booking app until 11 weeks this time round which was annoying for getting time off. You are entitled to time off for any antenatal appointments so your work can't tell you that you can't have the time (I don't think) but maybe your partner could give his boss a heads up just to let him know that he'll be needing some time off soon but explain that he doesn't know when yet and why he doesn't? It might make them more inclined to give him the time if you think it might be tricky? I hope they get in touch with you soon!

Doesn't do any harm to ring the surgery and check that you're in the system
Congrats btw

Don't panic, my midwife only works at our local surgery one day a week as we're very rural so she has a lot of ground to cover. It felt like we waited ages to get our booking appointment, but iirc we were seen at just gone 10 weeks and got our letter inviting us for the first scan a few days later.
If you've not heard by next week when she's meant to be back then give them another call and ask for an appointment time there and then.
Congrats on your pregnancy btw Smile
