Is it to early in the day to ask about sex positions?

I'm currently 21wks+3 and due to complications from very early on in the pregnancy me and DH haven't actually had sex since pretty soon after conception. Three days ago however my Consultant gave me the 'go ahead' that normal relations can resume

I had always thought that whilst pregnant (I now have an obvious bump which can be a bit tight at times) sex in the Missionary position made the most sense, but now I'm asking is it? I have seen a few threads/posts recently about the risks of pregnant women lying on their backs which kind of defeats the object of missionary?

I just imagine other positions would be uncomfortable? I'm not sure I'd even have the energy to be on top, haha. The thought of my sore boobs and tight bump bouncing up and down doesn't fill me with much excitement, especially when I seem to get so breathless these days with any form of activity

Any tips??

My favourite position is to lie like a starfish on the bed. With a magazine and a cup of tea nearby.

While DH watches TV quietly downstairs

Spoons is good for the pregnant person I find. It's practically just a nice lie down.

I like the 'me downstairs eating chocolates and watching boxsets while DH is well, anywhere he wants to be as long as he doesn't try to nick my chocolates'
However if you're dead set on dtd may I suggest a spoon-type arrangement...

I'm 33 weeks and we've only had to graduate from missionary in the last week or so. There aren't really any 'risks' associated with lying on your back, AFAIK, especially for a relatively short period of time.

I liked all fours and being on top. Not much bouncing required.

Um...spoons was okay but I have gained a ton of weight on my arse so it doesn't really work anymore. God help me.

Spooning or doggy is probably your best bet. Maybe with a cushion for added support. Missionary will be fine though for as long as you are comfortable.

I'm nearly exactly the sane dates as you writer and can honestly say normal service has continued throughout so far. (Oddly I'm one of those weirdos who wants more sex when pregnant!). Last pregnancies I've only found positions need to change 30+ weeks. We've started taking into account achy hips and that bump gets in the way a bit but otherwise same positions as before. I find being on top the best as I can just lean back a bit to make room for bump. I doubt being on your back for missionary would be an issue, I think its more about whether you get dizzy due to blood flow so if not then carry on.

Trust me 9 months is a long time you find a way, as far as I'm concerned a week is a long time no way am I going without for months!

We generally do spoons, me on top or doggy style. Can manage missionary but it does make me a bit dizzy so I pile a ton of pillows up behind me so I'm not lying flat, seems to help.

We've only just stopped doing it in the missionary position,hubby got a kick while we were in the middle of things that freaked him the hell out,lol! Personally I can't get on with spooning,my arse must be too big because its never comfy and someones leg is always in the way! Doggy all the way for us, pile up some pillows in front of you to lean on and it's much more comfortable.

Spooning does nothing for me or my ridiculously low libido, on top depends on how sore my bump/boobs/hips are! Similar for doggy (I have arthritis and I tend to get stuck, resulting in a very unsexy face plant to get away!) so missionary for us on the odd occasion I do consent to a quick fumble.

Definitely far too much effort!! My lack of interest was one of the reasons why I took a test, all of a sudden I couldn't care less if I never had nookie again! Not as bad since I hit second tri though

What about lying at the edge if the bed while DH kneels? A bit like missionary without the pressure on your bump. It also works on the sofa, the worktop or the bosses desk!
