Hi
This is my fourth pregnancy , 1 miscarriage. With 2 that went full term I put on exactly 3st.

This time have an under active thyroid and already Put on 1st6lb. I am eating a few more carbs and healthy snacks eg oranges.

Starting to worry! I am being induced at 38wk so got 22wk to am I looking at another 3st gain on top? This is so depressing !Hmm

how managed is your throid? under consultant care?

I have no idea how it will pan out. But wanted to say you are not alone. I'm 16 weeks too, first pregnancy, and I've put on 17lbs. So so hungry all of the time, along with no exercise and treating myself to whatever I fancy.

Trying not to get too down about it, but sometimes I do better than others. Surely we'll lose if afterwards won't we?

I had gained 12 lbs come 12 weeks. I don't have any thyroid issues. The midwife wasn't bothered. I'm due next month and have gained just under 3stone.
I don't know if that's normal? I gained rapidly in the beginning though, and it's slowed right down the past couple of month.
I was never worried, it's normal to gain weight.
If you're worried though your gp & your midwife will be able to help :)

I am 29 weeks pregnant. I have an underactive thyroid. Are you having extra care via your G.P or consultant care to monitor your thyroid?

As im sure you know its imperative for the baby to keep your thyroid levels as stable as possible.

If your thyroid is well managed I wouldn't be concerned about the weight, just follow as healthy a diet as possible.

Why / how would you know at this stage of pregnancy that you will be induced at 38 weeks?
Do you have other health problems?

Hey thanks for replies.

Yes been on extra50mg thyroxine since 12wks, feel fine apart from the weight gain.

Will be induced as pre eclampsia both other pregnancies started 25ish weeks and got worse. Got 80% risk this time. Will have the atrial notching scan and if one is notching, will be a def for inducement.

Glad to see it's not just me. Vaguely remember putting more on in the front half with my other 2 pregnancies than you're meant to then not putting on the 1lb a week 3 trimester - just put on loads of water from the pre eclampsia in loads of 4lb etc that came off.

Hate the weight gain guides they make you worry!!
