I'm terrified and I don't know why...

Just as the title says really.

I can't put my finger on it, I'm just terrified that something's going to go wrong. I'm not a first timer (far from it!) but I am a bit 'older' so this is probably the last baby I'll have.

It's just incredibly stressful and I didn't feel like this with any of my other pregnancies - even after the ones with poor outcomes. I'm almost in tears here just typing it (it seems more 'real' now it's out there).

Jings, flaming hormones...

How far are you along? Big sympathy, pregnancy hormones suck!

You might be experiencing antenatal depression... Often this focuses around thinking all the time about the things that can go wrong. Try talking to your midwife or GP as it is worth sharing this early on and maybe getting referred for some talking therapy/CBT.

The PANDAS website is a good read -

Hang in there Brew

I feel your pain, haven't been diagnosed with antenatal depression, but can't stop thinking about the worst outcomes all of the time. I would advise talking to a professional, as just worrying by yourself or talking to other women hasn't worked for me so far. Best of luck

Thanks. Sorry had to deal with 9 year old nightmares (that is having them, she isn't one!).

I'll have a read through that website LadyMedea thanks.

I'm only just 10 weeks, so I might feel a bit better once I've actually had my first scan. We've only mentioned it to a very few people (told you I was stressing) just in case anything does go wrong - I'm not very good at accepting sympathy, I'd rather the majority of people just didn't know.

I'm sounding more mad by the minute, amn't I?

And I have an appointment for a GTT next week so I'll get a chance to talk to someone then.

Yeah, anxiety sucks. If it's any consolation, mine has been terrible while pregnant but has been easing off for the last fortnight or so - am now 24 weeks.

CBT might prove helpful, or keeping busy/ going for walks. Distraction is your friend!
