41wks and going potty waiting...

Had the midwife visit today and carry out a sweep (41w) and she told me I'm 2cm dilated, babies head is very, very low and cervix still quite thick.

Wondering how close I may be to going into labour if I've still not passed plug, had show, had any regular contractions/BH and cervix still needs to thin?

Anyone out there who had sweep been told similar and laboured shortly after? I'm going potty waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting!

I'm booked in for second sweep on Sat and induction on 5th should nothing come of today's sweep. Fingers crossed.

If this is your 1st baby, 2cm it's good! Did she give you your Bishops Score?

BiscuitBeast · 30/10/2013 16:08

Yes first baby Grin and would be over the moon if he fancies putting in appearance in the next 24hrs.

No she didn't tell me my Bishops Score...

Well I'm still waiting !

Had about an hours worth of fairly strong and painful BH at about 6pm yesterday afternoon accompanied by period type pains and back ache throughout the evening.

Slept fine and woken to feeling fine. I'm thinking I will be having that sweep appt. come Saturday...

A trip to Holland and Barrett a little later this morning then, thank you.
Here's hoping your little one puts in an appearance very soon Grin

It def sounds like things are happening Smile honestly I had none of those symptoms with any of mine. When I was induced at 42 weeks with my 4th I still hadn't dilated at all even after 6 hours of pain and discomfort following the pessary Grin

I have just imagined labour to be having a show; due date arrives; waters gush; contractions kick in; baby arrives Smile A little naive perhaps! Who knew they could be so slow.

With regards to Evening Primrose Oil, what err 'end' are you taking these?! Orally or vaginally?

Orally! I also recommend taking strong arnica capsules (the homeopathic type things) they reduce the bruising and swelling - I noticed a huge difference for the births I did and didn't take them for!!!

41 weeks tomorrow. Really want to avoid induction but god am I fed up of waiting!! Any news??

BiscuitBeast · 01/11/2013 13:20

Time sure does drag huh!

No news from me unfortunately, tomorrow's sweep is looking more and more likely (as does Tuesdays induction Confused).

My fingers and toes are crossed that your baby makes an appearance very soon - any little niggles that he/she might be close?
