26+5 admitted to hospital with bleeding, what to expect?

I have grade 4 major placenta praevia and had a big bleed this morning, first one of this pregnancy.

Have been admitted onto labour ward, I am not contracting so I am hoping if no more bleeding I might be moved to ante-natal later. Baby is happy and no fresh bleeding atm.

Has anyone got any positive stories for me. This is my third, first two went to full term, so I don't know what to expect and am naturally a bit worried,26+5 is very early.

I don't know, but thinking of you. I'm 25 weeks with grade 3 placenta previa (dc2 who went to term)

They won't be looking to get baby out I'm quite certain. If no more bleeding I'd hope you can go home at some point.

Seeing as this is the first bleed I think they would rather baby stayed inside and if you're not contracting and not bleeding then it looks good. Fingers crossed!

I'm thinking of you too. my friend gave birth to a healthy baby girl at 40 weeks 10 days ago, after being admitted to hospital with bleeding at 22 weeks. while in hospital, she was warned that she may lose the baby (and she started having contractions) but the rest of the pregnancy went well and the birth and first 10 days have been textbook perfect.

I hope everything works out well for you and your baby.

Thanks for the positive story sleepingdragon, Glad all was well with your friend and her baby, I am hoping that this little one wants to stay in a while longer too.

Stitch, I have had grade 4 placenta praevia twice.

With DD1 I knew 3 people who had PP but no problems, went to 38 weeks for a planned CS. I assumed I would be the same. How wrong I was! I was admitted at 33.5 weeks after a big bleed that went (sorry, may be TMI) plop into the toilet. I was released after 2 days, only to be re-admitted within 24 hours. I stayed until a planned section at 37.5 weeks. She weighed in at a hefty 8lb 11oz!

With DD2 I asked at my 12 week scan if they could see the placenta, we then guessed it was another PP.

This was confirmed at 21 weeks. I was on a sex ban! No flying, no lifting, no pushing a shopping trolley.........

I was admitted at 24 weeks, 26 weeks, three times at 31 weeks, then at 33 weeks I was in for the duration.

I had been told I could only work part time after the admission at 26 weeks, my boss was fine with this.

At 36 weeks, I had a big bleed that didn't stop, I ended up with an emcs at 36+1. DD2 was 5lb 13oz, no need for special care.

I'm happy to answer any questions about my experiences. There is also another MN called Tinkerbelle who also had PP. I'm sure she'll show up too.
