Anterior placenta - when did you feel your baby?

I posted a couple of weeks ago saying i was nearly 20 weeks and hadn't felt my baby moving yet. At my 20 week scan i was told i have an anterior placenta. I'm now 22 weeks and still can't feel anything so was just wondering when ladies in a similar position first felt movements? Thanks x

i felt some at the end of week 19 and movement has slowly gotten stronger. everyones different so try not to compare to others its still early to feel movement and babba could be laying into u all snug

I think I was at least 24 weeks - and then it was a proper boot - none of this early fluttering nonsense!

Thanks, it's so hard to be patient! In this pregnancy so far i've had severe sickness resulting in medication, then high platelets in my blood resulting in having to take aspirin and having consultant checks at hospital, blood pressure problems, then low iron which is making loads of my hair fall out and then found out about the anterior placenta! I know i shouldn't moan as i know i'm lucky to be pregnant but it just seems to be one thing after another and i just want to start feeling my baby moving around in there!

Thanks for your posts x

Hi there, I am 20 weeks and haven't felt anything either other than growing pains! Everyone keeps asking me "have you felt any movement yet" and I keep thinking that I am missing something lol so glad to hear its not just me! I was starting to worry!
You sound like you have had a rough time so far :-( x

angryangryyoungwoman · 19/10/2013 21:57

Sorry to hear you have had so many issues so far, op, hope things get easier for you. I have an anterior placenta and started feeling flutters at 20 weeks which fairly quickly turned into kicks at about 22 weeks.

BummyMummy77 · 19/10/2013 22:02

About 24 weeks.

People said this to me and it really annoyed me but it's so true, there will come a time (for some) where you lie in bed in tears pleading with lo to stop kicking the living crap out of you.

:)

Newmum - i know what you mean about people asking about movements, i know they're only interested and being nice but now i feel like i have to explain the position of my placenta to explain why i haven't felt anything! Have you had your scan yet? And yes it hasn't been smooth so far! I'm shocked at how difficult it's been - i'm 28, don't smoke, barely drink, regular exercise and healthy weight - i just hope nothing else happens!x

Angryangry - thank you i hope the rest of the pregnancy runs smoothly and i feel kicks soon like you!x

Bummymummy - i actually hope that happens to me! But i know what you mean when it does happen i'll probably wonder why i spent so long worrying about it!x

I used to lie awake and pray I'd feel something.

Now I lie awake telling him he's just lost a week's pocket money! x

I felt baby at about 19 weeks with anterior placenta. However this was only when I lay on my front. It was like a little tap on the inside where you can feel your uterus (Like a bubble in your lower belly if that makes sense!).

It was a few weeks later I started to feel him without laying that way :-).

NomDeClavier · 19/10/2013 23:04

oneslice that was exactly the same for me with DS. I was well past the point where you 'should' feel the baby, bent over one day and got a kick in the ribs.

This time round I felt movement round the sides much earlier, more because I knew what I was looking for but I've never had the flutters.

jessandalfie · 20/10/2013 09:34

I also have an anterior placenta I'm 20 weeks an just started to feel little flutters also my bump isn't very big is any1 else the same this is all new to me as with my first child I felt movement at 16 weeks and got very fat very quick lol

ouryve · 20/10/2013 09:37

I felt mine at 18 weeks (about 2 weeks later than DS1). I had a lot of sensations like he was jumping up and down on my cervix. I can't remember when that started (I've managed a few sleeps in the intervening 7.5 years!) but it was really uncomfortable.

chloecorey · 20/10/2013 10:18

I'm not sure cos I always thought maybe that was a movement? All the time my first definite must have been about 21 week cos it was just after scan and then he never stopped lol xx
