John Lewis sleepsuits- newborn or 0-3?

Hello
Wondered if anyone knew how the sizing of John Lewis multipack sleepsuits come up? Had a growth scan last week and they've predicted a 7lb11 to 8lb baby with reasonably long legs if born at 40 weeks, but the margin for error is quite big. Just wondering whether to go for newborn or 0-3 size wise? Would there be any danger in putting her into 0-3? Thanks!!

My experience is that they come up rather large compared to other brands. You can find out length though in cms on website which is helpful once your baby is here. If you want them beforehand is but a few packs in the different sizes. They are great at returns if they don't fit

Sorry didn't read full message before posting Smile the only prob with flappy arms and legs is that the baby could get cold. But I had a preemie and that's what they said in hospital so might not really be an issue for a term baby

I have a few John Lewis outfits and yes they do seem to be more on the generous side rather than tiny.

Don't waste money on newborn, they grow out of them so quickly. Better to be a bit big than slung onto the pile of too small after 2 wears.

I found JL large compared to other brands. My dd was 7lbs at birth and newborn swamped her. She was in them for quite a while.

Picklesauage · 14/10/2013 20:56

They do come up big. My DD was 7lb 2 and still didn't fit the newborn properly until 4 weeks old! They are big, just like mothercare and m&s.

Next seems to be accurate and has a good range of newborn, o-1 month and 0-3 month.
HandM also pretty accurate ime!

The baby nighties are brilliant, 1 size fits for ages and no popper rage in the night!
Their sizes are generous but you could buy a selection and swap any you don't open. My babies were all tiny and even newborn was too big.

My DS was almost 9 lbs and wore the JL newborn sleep suits for three weeks.

I had an 8lb5 baby who wore JL newborn suits till she was 2 months old. I'd go for newborn.

My kids were between 7 and 8lbs. They all wore newborn for at least a few weeks, I tried to go straight to 0-3 with eldest and her arms and legs got caught up in them and stuck in odd positions so the newborn bits are worth it!

Preach everything so it shrinks a bit to correct size. I like mothercare for range of newborn sizes.

0-3 is surprisingly big in most brands.

My DS was 7 lbs 11 and was in newborn for weeks.

My son was in newborn till 4 months at least. I actually went out and bought more because was fed up of everything swamping him.

FreeButtonBee · 14/10/2013 21:34

Agree that JL are big. Even the tiny baby stuff was enormous on my 6lb twins. I found them really wide as well as long. Best for skinny babies by far is Sainsburys. Their stuff is really cute and a bit funky.
