Cramps in early pregnancy

Hi,
I'll be 5 weeks pregnant tomorrow, got my BFP on Monday and was a shocker as we'd agreed to have a break til the new year and I was convinced af was on it's way!Grin
I had some spotting Tuesday but nothing since but have had cramps for a week now. They feel weird like a cross between trapped wind and as if I've done too many sit ups....which I def haven't!
I registered at a new gps yesterday and the nurse I spoke to was useless. I told her I was very nervous as had a mmc 2yrs ago at 11 weeks and she refused to help saying I need to register with the midwife but obv theres a bit of a wait for that. I've requested a call from them but in the meantime does anyone know if these cramps are normal? They arent really painful more uncomfortable but are worrying me. So nervous of another mc.
Thanks for your help ladies xx

Yeah I had cramps with my first pregnancy and I remember feeling disconcerted by them. It could be when the egg is travelling down the Fallopian tube and then implanting into the womb at this stage. Later on its your stomach muscles sorting themselves out.

But if you are freaking out about it go in and ask for a scan and see what they say.

I found out I was of a few weeks ago and was convinced my period was coming as I had bad cramps from about two days before it was due until at least 3 or 4 days later. Felt just like period pains. I think it's just your uterus stretching or something, plus probably trapped wind which is common at this stage. Congrats and try to relax - I am constantly paranoid and monitoring every twinge or cramp, it makes you miserable and spoils this exciting time!

Thanks for the replies ladies. Yes its pretty much all over, even the odd one in my back and sides but mainly low down.
Its just got me really on edge but I do feel massively different to the pregnancy that ended in mc.
I've even looked at how much it costs for a private early scan but wondering whether I just need to chill out!!

I got agonising (like popping codeine, several emergency trips to A&E, waking up screaming in pain) cramps with my first pg and nothing was wrong. I know it's scary - I've got them again now and I'm worried too - but try not to worry.

Yes I had period type cramps in the early weeks.

Thanks everyone, it really is hard not to worry isn't it. Keep trying to just chill out as know the worrying won't do any good but easier said than done!!
