Don't know if my waters have gone

Ok - this is going to be tmi. Went for a poo earlier and as I was pooing I think I heard water splashing into toilet bowl. Didn't really feel much coming out and all water in toilet bowl was clear when I looked - ie not urine colour.

This was a couple of hours ago - have felt nothing since then. Given that the midwife told me I didn't need to go into hospital immediately if waters broke shall I just wait and see if anything happens?

Am 39+3

Thanks for advice !

I would wait it out, I would of thought you would be leaking a bit still though if it was your waters.

I would have thought they would still be trickling at least- have u put a pad on?

Imnotaslimjim · 10/10/2013 17:55

Pop a pad on and lie down for 15 mins or so, if you get a gush when you stand or have wet the pad, its your waters

If you're at all concerned, pop to the maternity unit, a quick check will tell if they have

You won't need to go in right away but you should tell your midwife if you suspect they've gone, so that they can advise you on what to keep an eye out for as the next stage or if they want to check you out. Waters are there to protect baby from outside infections and such, so once they break, even a tiny bit there is a small chance of something getting in. Doubt it'll be a problem as you're quite far along, but it's best to let the midwife know.

This exact same thing has happened to me about ten days ago and am now 39 weeks. Had no leaking after and definitely wasn't enough of a gush so pretty sure it wasn't waters think it's just one of those weird things!

daisygatsby · 10/10/2013 19:44

Haven't been wearing a pad but have felt no trickling . Will wait till morning and maybe give them a call then if it's still on my mind

I hear this is pretty common and have experienced this too... TMI alert but I actually think it's just that pregnancy discharge stuff Confused not waters unfortunately. it comes out like that because your pushing down doing a poo... I have experienced this a few times and I'm 37wks.
