Anyone else got this? I'm 20 weeks, and it's just started today. I can't sleep it's so bloody painful Sad
I've had a paracetamol, rubbed it, wriggled it, and nothing helps.
I'm fed up.

You can buy wrist splints to wear in bed which I found quite effective.

So sorry to read you have this so early in your pregnancy OP. I had it towards the end of my last pregnancy, I have a horrible feeling it's coming again (I've got 8 weeks to go on this pregnancy)... it is nasty Sad I couldn't get used to the wrist splints at all. I found that sleeping with my hands elevated on pillows helped a bit. It did go within a few days of having the baby though...

Thanks for your replies.

I've ordered a wrist splint, and I'm hoping for a better time of it once that arrives. Hope it doesn't go on till baby arrives though!

Splints helped lots with me, only downside was I'd wake up needing the loo and have to thump DH awake to remove them!

Running wrists under a cold tap in the morning helps too.

I feel your pain, mine dissapeared as soon as I had DS

I had this terribly first time and have the signs that is is starting again at 18 weeks.

Wrist splints helped. If it is keeping you awake try alternating holding your wrists under hot and cold tap. One might work better for you, hot was best for me. Wiggle your fingers to relive the pain. Elevate hands or alternatively I'd get done comfort from dangling my hands off the bed.

It does go away quickly after birth. I remember my first night feeling so much better.

Like others I had this in my first pregnancy and it was horrid, wrist splints really helped me though. This time at nearly 23 weeks it is starting again and I am going to have to dig out the splints.

I had this, and the pain and stiffness went away instantly after birth, however my thumb and two fingers on my right hand still have reduced sensation. I think they're getting better though.

thistlelicker · 09/10/2013 05:41

Can I ask how how u know you had this? I'm ten weeks and wake with terrible pins and needles!!! :-(

KatoPotato · 09/10/2013 10:03

I would wake in the morning and my hands would be curled into fists that I couldn't unfurl! The splints stopped my curling my fingers up in the night!

KatoPotato · 09/10/2013 10:04

I told the physio at my hospital pre natal classes and she gave me the splints.
