Chicken pox at DS preschool - am I overreacting

I am 15 weeks pregnant. DS's preschool posted sign a week ago saying they have chicken pox so we went home and called midwives last Friday to see if i needed to be concerned. My mum doesnt recall me having CP but may have forgotten. Midwife said they'd test if I had antibodies and I'd get results in 1 or 2 days. Still havent had results a week later. Didnt mind keeping DS at home for a couple of days but don't want him to miss more than is necessary and its been a week now.

One child got spots 2 wks ago, one child 1 week ago. Could there yet be a mass outbreak? Should DS go back Monday? Is keeping him away a disproportionate reaction?

Phone to chase your results. I wouldn't let DS back until I knew I'd had it. Usual incubation period is 2-3 weeks.

Yes I would def chase results. Both my DC's had chicken pox when they were little and the incubation period is 21 days with them being contagious in that time.

Just to say when we thought my dd had chicken pox and me pregnant even if you do get cp my doctor said it's a cosmetic issue for baby that's all. Having it won't harm the baby and if you do get it they will give you injection within a day or two of showing signs to stop it passing to baby in womb. Otherwise the virus will pass to baby and can cause scars from the spots as the fluid in womb won't let them heal. It's only worse if you get it late in pregnancy and baby can be born with it. Anyway definitely chase it up but if you are not showing signs there's nothing to worry about.

So IMO I would send your son on Monday x
