water infection and cefalexin

Diagnosed with a water infection on Monday and given Cefalexin to treat it. I've been taking the tablets as directed but still feeling no let up on the peeing front. Also still having the odd abdominal pain now and then but it certainly isn't getting any worse in terms of back pain/fever so I'm not too worried...
Has anyone else been on this? Does it take a while for the drugs to work? Will I ever stop peeing?!

It should start kicking in within a couple days, if not it's maybe a different type of antibiotic you need. Cefalexin is usually the first one they will try in pregnsncy but there are others dependent on how far along you are. Keep drinking lots of water - it sucks because it makes you pee but it will make it easier. Good luck, I've had 3 water infections so far and they're no fun x

good luck - boiling up some real pearl barley and adding some lemon juice to the water once you've strained and cooled it helped me too....

Yes used this for both kidney infection about 11 years ago and water infection at start of current pregnancy and kicked in after a day both times. x

I've used this a few times during pregnancy and it usually started working within a day or two. Once it didn't and it turned out to be the wrong medication for that particular strain of infection. In fact (possible tmi) it was thrush that had infected everything up to my kidneys - I have NEVER been in that much pain. Anyway....that aside, maybe the cefalexin can't fight the bacteria of this particular UTI, I'd go back and seek advice.
