this might be a stupid qs but i really want to know!! i have never had big boobs but now they have increased i would say by double since i have been pregnant...i am 31 weeks now...i will be bottle feeding dont know if that makes any difference....some people have said they used to have small boobs until they had kids, others say having kids has left them flat chested....as long as they dont get smaller than they were before im not too bothered but im really intrigued!!! any ideas or personal experience anyone??? thanks

I was an A cup before any kids but was muchtoo skinny so that didn't help. Now 4 kids later they are normally a small B. Pg at the moment and a large B nearly a C cup. Will breastfeed for as long as possible and hope they stay!!!

scarymamma · 29/06/2006 18:18

Tee hee. I too loved my pregnancy boobs (having spent too long a flat chested A.) Didn't care much for the breeze block style boobs I got when the milk first came in tho' - v scary!!!! Once bfing settled down, they were a 'good' size. Unfortunately, 5 years after stopping feeding and losing all the 'baby' weight I put on, they have shrunk to a saggy 'B'. Changed shape completely as well - like old balloons that have started to deflate!!! Sorry to be so graphic. I now fully understand why people have boob jobs after having kids.

LittleB · 29/06/2006 19:25

Mine were an A, went up to a D when breast feeding, and now over a year later (and lighter that I was pre pregnancy)they are a C. Not as perky but I'm happy with what I've got.

mum2lovely2 · 29/06/2006 20:48

I agree with Hoppybird's theory that you need to put on a good amount of weight in pregnancy so that breastfeeding doesn't 'empty' your breasts. I didn't put on a lot of weight during my two pregnancies, in spite of eating for two (sometimes four) and I'm naturally skinny anyway, now my breasts are definitely empty (think beanie without the beans)This is tragic considering I didn't have much to start with I wish I had kept my pregnancy and breast feeding boobs but unfortunately it wasn't to be, I hope you will be luckier Steff. Sorry to be a killjoy but I just wanted to get it off my chest

yum2mum · 29/06/2006 21:36

well im only 20 and ive never had big boobs but now after breastfeeding they feel saggy and empty which doesnt help making you feel sexy in any way im just lucky my b/f loves me for who i am.

jennifersofia · 29/06/2006 22:25

Very interested in this theory - went all skinny after 1st preg. and then had 2nd child and breasts completely deflated and smaller. So does that mean if I become pregnant with third and manage to feed myself up, I might be able to increase my breast size? Or is it once doomed, always doomed?

nervousmum · 30/06/2006 10:27

I was a B/C cup pre-pregnancy, went up to a D-E during breastfeeding. I fed my son for 8 months, gave up 2 months ago, and my boobs have settled into a D cup. Definitely not as 'full' as before, but not bad. DP doesn't complain

JessaJam · 30/06/2006 10:32

started off as a 34AA cup pre-preg, got up to a 36A ( I was dead chuffed!!)...dreaded the potential to get even smaller...didn't breast feed directly (IYSWIM) but did mixed feeding and expressed until ds was about 4mo...he's now 10mo and I am back to being 34AA...not quite as perky as I was and I think my nipples have become a bit shy as they are not, um, as 'forthcoming' as they used to be.

NappiesGalore · 30/06/2006 14:41

pah. i wish.

good luck with yours

hana · 30/06/2006 14:43

was also 34aa prechildren and after 1st and 2nd was back to same size (but 36aa!) This is about a year of breastfeeding both
wish my cleavage had stayed........sigh

sockmonkey · 30/06/2006 17:53

I have one sister who's boobs got bigger after each child, and another sister who got smaller. Mine have just got more droopy. One thing is for sure, they are never the same again!!!

2ndtime · 30/06/2006 19:09

I breast fed my 3 girls for a year each. I was a 32DD before babies and now 5 years after my last I'm a 34D which I'm more than happy with. They are not as toned or full as they once were but then neither is the rest of me! With regards to the theory that BF makes your boobs saggy my last daughter was a bit of an experiment. For some reason from a matter of days old she would only feed from the right side and did so happily for 12 months leaving the left side redundant. I can honestly say there is no difference between them now so I would say that it is probably the ageing process and weight gain and loss that alters your boobs rather than feeding your little angels. The only other thing I would say is dont dispair when you finnish BF if you are a bit saggy and empty looking. For 12 months after DD3 I was very depressed about my lady lumps but over time they seem to have recovered and re-inflated all by themselves. Breast feeding was one of the most heavenly and fulfilling experiences and even if my nips had ended up round my knees I would have thought that a fair trade for the knowlege that my body was doing the wonderful job it was designed to do. Im curious that you say you will be bottle feeding. Would you give BF a go? A friend of mine bottle fed DS1 as she felt uneasy with the whole BF thing but I met her when I was expecting DD3 and when she saw how easy and convinient BF was she went on to BF her next baby for around 18 monthsand loved it. It's not a criticism of your decision, I just think like when the kids say they dont like what's on their plates, "you never know til you've tried it"!

Pachamama · 30/06/2006 21:51

Thanks for your advice 2ndtime, i'm one of those with smaller lady lumps post bf and have to admit that i was depressed when i finished 6 1/2 months of wonderful bf'ing to discover they had shrunk.
I think hoppybird is right because i hardly gained any weight during my pregnancy and am now 4 kilos below my natural weight - it just fell off during the bf and am naturally skinny.
So if i get pg again will def be trying to eat as much as poss to see if i can put them back up a size - otherwise it's wonderbras forever!

why is everyone so obsessed with having bigger boobs. I have been a 34E/F ever since i was about 19. I was a slim size 10/12 and was up to my 2nd pregnancy. I have hated being this size and would be reduced to tears when shopping for bras and dresses as they were all so hideous (we are talking 17 years ago now). i had to pay at least £25 for a decent fititng bra and dreamt of the breast reduction i would have one day. i have had my 1st child whom i breastfed for a year. afterwards they reduced to a 34D which for me was so much better. i am now pregnant again and immediately they have grown into these grotesque swollen painful balloons which are so sore. i hope to breast feed again. when i have finsished with babies then i know i will have them reduced. they are not attractive, saggier than ever after baby no 1 and basically a huge inconvenience to me. i was always a keen sportsperson and found they just impeded me. I just wish that smaller people could realise they are so not the gorgeous pert sexual objects that we are bombarded with. They can be bloody uncomfy.

steff1stbabysep06 · 01/07/2006 16:07

it is one thing having boobs that are massive and another not having hardly any!!! both extremes are never happy! i just think its nice to have a bit to feel comfortable in what you wear....my best mate is bigger than jordan and she absoloutely hates it..she is really short too...i was fairly happy with mine before pregnancy but was too self concious to wear revealing or low cut clothes as didnt feel confident enough..i dont think its about showing them off i think its about feeling good in yourself.....i can understand wheezie why you dont see why people are obsessed because you feel like they make you suffer whereas some people are obsessed with the thought of being massive.....you cant win lol!!!

Wheezie, I know where you're coming from. I was 30F and 10 everywhere else. Currently 32FF and rising and, like you, waiting to get BF over with so I can finally get them reduced (and among other things run as much as I like without feeling them plunging further towards my knees with every step). For all Bravissimo et al try and make you feel better about it, they're still there when you get undressed.

And people PAY to look like this!!

eidsvold · 02/07/2006 09:21

i did not really change with dd1 ( but did not breastfeed and milk never really came in) after dd2 have gone up a cup size despite weighing less than I did after dd1 too. Guess too - am only totally stopped feeding dd2 a month of so ago. So will see what happens.

ezridax · 11/07/2006 23:02

Helenmelon you've helped me feel slightly normal.
Coming into my 30th wk of pregnancy and i am a 34 j! Everyone keeps telling me how i'm going to get bigger when my milk comes in - GREAT i can't wait (not).

well at least i know 34 k exists -where did you get your bras?

I'm hoping mine don't stay like this.
