Have you seen any decent CHEAP coats for a big bump?

DC3 is due in January. I'm already too big for any of my coats to fasten and as it's getting colder I don't know what to do. There is absolutely no way I am spending much and I have worn DPs on a couple of occasions, but I really don't want to spend the next 3+ months looking like a total frump (it's bad enough as it is!). Also don't want to trail round town with two DCs looking for something. So if any of you have seen anything/bought anything/ have any ideas, please let men know.

Thanks in advance...

What's your budget? HVe you had a look on eBay?
Would a cape be more suitable for bump?

strawberryblondebint · 02/10/2013 16:59

I had a gorgeous primark swing coat or pea coat that wasn't maternity but saw me from nov to march. It was teal blue. Try eBay. I was massive and it still buttoned up. I sold it for more than I paid

pinkandsparklytoo · 02/10/2013 17:00

New Look had a good coat for £30 a few weeks ago, I have one and it os lovely and warm.

Emilycee · 02/10/2013 17:05

How cheap are you wanting it? I got a lovely one from Asos but havent worn it yet as bump not showing - its for Dec/Jan/Feb when I will prob be huge and it will be freezing. Anyway that was £70 but I plan to sell on ebay when Im finished with it.

I've got a parka (they seem to be everywhere at the moment) as needed something with a hood for pushing DS in the pram rather than trying to deal with an umbrella! Just bought a few sizes up then pull the drawstrings tighter above the bump so it looks like its designed as maternity :)

comfyonesie2 · 02/10/2013 17:56

eBay! I'm due in Feb and bought a lovely M&S maternity coat very cheaply. I didn't want to spend much on something I'll only wear for a few months. Most second hand maternity coats are only worn for a short time, so in really good condition too.

I'm also due in January with DD2 and I regret not buying a proper maternity coat the first time round.

I have just bought a duffle coat with a hood from Red Herring at Debenhams. It was £59 but with discount codes it was £50 with free delivery. I really like it, it looks good and there is plenty of room to grow. I'm also hoping that it will fit over a sling for when the baby is here.

Romily · 02/10/2013 18:34

I got a New Look duffle coat good as new for £15 from ebay.

puddleduck16 · 02/10/2013 19:15

I bought a coat from JoJomaman bebe yesterday online. (I'm due in Feb) It was quite expensive at £65 but I searched online and got 15% discount code which made it £55.95. Its a smarter swing coat which thought would be suitable for all occasions.
Otherwise I was going to go for the New Look snood coat which Pinkandsparkly mentioned, however it was on offer for £30 but is now back to full price of £40.

shirleycat1 · 02/10/2013 19:53

thanks everyone. I was thinking £30 max. Ebay is a good idea - I'll have a look now. Have popped into a charity shop a couple of times but not found anything. I don't think I can bring myself to buy a brand new coat to wear just for a few months. I want it to be for all occasions, so school run, trip to town, park - a swing one is also a good idea.

Thanks again...

Maybe I'm unlucky but I find ebay full of lots of ladies looking for the same things, and prices seem toget quite high and close to cost as new.
I bought a good one from new look, 30 quid and very happy with it.can use on top of sling hopefully and or sell on ebay afterwards.

Stom91 · 02/10/2013 20:32

New look had a duffle coat for £30. Its so warm best £30 I've spent on a coat.

www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/pp+maternity-coats+-jackets

I found these two on the jojomaman outlet section of the website. Hope it helps - also asos have a sake atm x

katebakes · 03/10/2013 00:34

Also check out their 'last chance to buy' section - great value :)

tethersend · 03/10/2013 00:48

What size are you OP?

Stevie77 · 03/10/2013 09:36

Agree with quackojuliet re eBay. No way I'm paying nearly new prices on 2nd hand clothes. People go a bit crazy!

rallytog1 · 03/10/2013 10:00

Last year New Look had an amazing parka-style coat for £40. I lived in it. I'm saving mine for a future pregnancy but I reckon some people will be ebaying theirs this winter.

shirleycat1 · 03/10/2013 16:59

I'm a size 12. Yes I have never had much luck with getting bargains on ebay. I just bid for a nice Topshop one and was outbid withing a couple of hours and it doesn't end until 6th. I'll have a look at the asos sale stuff later once I put the kids to bed. Luckily it's not too cold yet, but I know it's on the way...
