With DSI woke in middle of night feeling achy and was sick. I then passed blood and had instant contractions. DS born within 4 hours and they broke waters at hospital. I have been told that this labour will halve so am stressed about sorting care for DS1at short notice or if during the day that DH will miss birth etc.

Were your signs of going into labour the same with your second DC as have been feeling grumpy, achy and restless which may be impending birth but worried I will miss warning signs and leave it too late to get to hospital.

pregnant with dc 3 but ds was induced so watching with interest. Smile

All 5 of my labours started differently.
I didn't even know whether I was in labour or not with no5. That was a very embarrassing phone call to the local labour ward especially when I said it was my 5th! Blush

Mine were same
Woke up with contractions at 2 am with both
Dd1 labour 16 hours
Dd2 labour 8 hours

Mine were completely different. My second labour was also much longer than my first.

Have they talked through homebirth procedure with you? If you do have a reall quick labour and end up delivering at home it's better to be prepared. And better to deliver at home than the side of the road! (obviously, if you don't have a really quick labour you can still go to hospital)

Not been discussed due to blood loss last time but I guess my back up would be an ambulance being called with them assisting with home birth before taking me in. Just have had a funny 'on edge' feeling last couple of days but can't remember if I felt than last time.

Ah, that must be very stressful. Would they induce to make sure you are in hospital?

candr · 02/10/2013 18:27

Nope, not unless I go over due date. Just want it to all be over really so I can stop worrying about it.

How annoying.

I had similar worries with my dc2, though thankfully the first birth had gone okay. In the end though, as I said I had weeks of braxton hicks in the run up, then 24hrs or pre-labour and 14hrs of established labour!

My first was over in 8hrs, with no warning apart from being a bit grotty the day before.

So, try not to worry too much. I know it's hard though.

Tummy really hurting like bad cramps and feeling sick - this could be it but don't want to set ball rolling to find it is BH.

ooh how exciting. How many weeks are you candr?

candr · 03/10/2013 20:39

Am 37w today. DS1 was 37 plus 4. Have sore throat too so may just be coming down with something.
