Yet another weird new pregnancy symptom

I have a new one which I haven't seen mentioned here before -weak hands! They hurt, if I had to guess I'd say it was lots of relaxin in the ligaments in my hands, this is kind of what it feels like. I also have lots of pins and needles in my hands and fingers. I'm 39+3 and have noticed this in the last couple of weeks.

Both of these are worst in the middle of the night / when I wakeup.

Anyone else experienced this or got any other weird symptoms?

It sounds like you might have carpel tunnel syndrome. It'll probably get better once you deliver! (Splints can also help, but at 39+ I'm not sure you'll get that far!)

Yup - sounds like carpal tunnel. I have it (mildly, I think) at 36 weeks.

I told my midwife I wasn't bothered for a referral for splints etc, but a quick squiz on Google says that ice can help, as can sleeping with your hands stretched out rather than curled up. I also think using my iPhone is a trigger.

It should disappear after birth.

Thanks, good to know it falls within the vast list of normal pregnancy things. I'm not too bothered by it, my hands are strong enough to work the toilet in the middle of the night and eat my breakfast in the morning, so I am functioning at 100% of what I need!

I'll keep it in mind for future pregnancies though.

I think I had RSI in the past from to much computer work and wonder if it could be related?
