41 weeks and still no baby

This is basically a rant, 41 weeks today and no sign of baby making an appearance anytime soon - I feel like I am going to be pregnant forever at this rate.

The constant txt messages from family and friend asking for baby news is getting me down, I feel like I am letting them down when texting backing saying the same thing everyday nope still no baby.

Has anyone else felt like this when overdue?

It's normal to feel like that. Tell your family to back off. A normal pregnancy lasts from 37-42 weeks. The 'due date' is just a date in order to allow you to arrange care. In France, for example, they use 41 weeks as your 'due date'.

Nothing might be happening externally but internally, your body is finishing growing an entire human being. Don't be disheartened. They come when ready and you don't want it any other way. Tell the texters to nob off and enjoy the last few days of being pregnant instead of feeling you're failing. You're not, you're doing a brilliant job.

I felt like that at 38 weeks! Ignore them. It's your body and baby will come when he/she is good and ready. I gave birth at 40+5 after 3 days of induction you get pestered even more then

If he/she is your first, enjoy these last few days of actual sleep - I wish I did even though I complained about not being able to sleep whilst pregnant Grin

You're not letting anyone down! Some babies just take longer than others to come. I remember being a bit vague when people asked what my due date was to try to avoid all the texts and calls, didn't really work though as they all realised that I must be due soon. In the end DD was born at 40+12 and I was completely fed up by then.

Why don't you try sending a group message saying no baby yet and you're now switching off your phone to get some rest before the birth, you'll let everyone know as soon as something happens? If anyone continues to hound you after that then just ignore them.

Good luck! I hope you're not waiting much longer x

Thanks, you have all made me feel a lot better and since started to have a few strange pains so here's hoping things are going to get moving Grin

Exciting! Hope it's the start of things. If not, soon!
Good luck Smile
