Alternatives to induction if waters broken and labour not progressing?

I have done quite a lot of research into induction if you are past your due date and am going to request expectant management so long as everything seems healthy.

However I am unsure of my options if my waters break but labour isn't progressing. I know they like to induce after about 24 hours due to the increased risk of infection but are there any other options? Can they monitor for infection in some way?

Any advice or links appreciated!
