For the past 24 hours I've had what may be described as a sharp scratch, a bit like when you have a smear test? Anyone else? May ring EPU but waiting to see if it settles. No bleeding or anything.thanks for any replies :)

I get pains like that. I wouldn't call them unless you have any bleeding

birdandbee · 07/09/2013 13:51

I'd phone EPU now just to check!!

I'm no expert but you want to check your cervix isnt changing shape, opening or getting shorter this early in your pregnancy. If any if these things are happening they can do something about it if they catch it early. Like I said I'm no expert but definitely worth checking with a midwife.

Does it feel stabby - like being stabbed with a knitting needle?

If so this is normal and tends to be baby on a nerve

SadPander · 07/09/2013 17:20

If its the stabby pain then I had it lots about 12-16 weeks. Never found out what it was but it did pass and the baby is fine. If you're worried then def give someone a call, but don't be too surprised if they seem unconcerned (my midwife was)

Well the good news is I've rested in bed all afternoon and they seemed to have stopped for now. Yes 4athome like a knitting needle being quickly poked up there, thank you all for your replies.

Oh its horrible isn't it?! Glad you're feeling better now though. My midwife tried telling me it was round ligament pain, which I'd also had and I knew it wasn't as it wasn't the same sort of pain at all. I've seen quite a few posts with people saying they've had it so I don't think its anything too unusual, but if it is worrying youi then there's no harm in calling someone for advice.

I hated that! Had it a lot in the last few weeks!
Read online that it was the cervix preparing...had a sweep at 40+ weeks and my cervix was closed Angry I wouldn't worry, like someone else said, I think it's baby on a nerve.
