Nursery Furniture

Okay, so I'm getting waaaaaaay ahead of myself.... But started looking at nursery furniture.

I have fallen completely and utterly in love with a cot and nursing chair, which it seems I just can't have. Well, not without considering a second mortgage.

Both items are from Pottery Barn Kids in the USA. Both are affordable, they just won't ship to the UK and private shipping is going to break the bank.

Anyone seen anything similar UK based? My eyes are glazing over from Internet searches!?!

600 quid for a cot? Hmm

These are a bit similar.

Try ebay. We have a lovely pine cot bed for £42 (we will buy a new mattress) and a hauk nursing chair with stool for £36. We are now looking for a pine tall boy that will match the bed and cabinet we already have.

We have also bought a buggy second hand, which meant we could treat ourselves to what we really wanted (uppababy vista)

We aren't buying any special gadgets and changing on the floor. Keeping it as basic as possible!

not sure if that helps

I love that nursing chair. I haven't seen anything remotely similar in the uk. The nursing chairs I have seen are not nice to look at and of questionable quality I think. Be interested to see if anyone has alternative ideas!

My DS is 5 months and I'm getting ready to move him into his own room. He's still sleeping in the large co-sleeper cot I bought for him (didn't have a Moses basket at all and although he is tall and big he still has plenty room in the babybay maxi co sleeper). Anyway, I have only just now ordered his cot bed - guess I'm saying that there is no rush to buy this and you can wait til you find something you really like.

I have bought the mamas and papas 'Ocean' cot and already have the dresser with changing top. I have liked the quality of that.

Good luck with your LO.

I've just bought a low wing back chair and foot stool which is similar from Multiyork. I don't really like the specific nursing chairs, so thought this would be nice as a bedroom chair after its been used for feeding. and I've wanted a better chair for DH to dump his clothes on for a while admiditly it wasn't cheap but have a look in normal furniture shops instead of nursery furniture retailers.

Oh and check out Boori furniture, lovely quality and convertible to extra large cotbeds (same size as a toddler bed) so you'll get a lot of use.

Never mind £600 for a cot, how about £1000 for a chair?! Dear god. We have those chairs from ikea that everyone else I know seems to have... Can't remember the name of it but I'm sure you know the one I mean. We have beautiful mamas and papas furniture which was expensive but we had help from parents luckily. Like a pp says, you probably won't need a cot for a little while anyway so no rush!

Gorgeous nursing chair!

The only thing I have seen which is similar is one by Bambizi (google) though that comes in at £2500... We have a Dutalier glider in white with natural linen covers which I love but if I didn't have that I would def consider just buying a lovely armchair (try sofa workshop or sofa.com or similar) and seeing if I could get a clever carpenter to put some rockers on on it.

having spent many years in the us, its all but impossible to ship large items.
i love the cot and chair thoughSmile
tutti bambini do similar style of cots and as for the chair john lewis sometimes sell that style but as an arm chair.
good luck !
