Baby measuring 4 weeks ahead.....starting to panic!!!

So I just got back from the midwife and she said I am measuring past 31 weeks however using the hospital EDD I am only 27+6!!
I have said all along that the dates they gave me were wrong as I knew I was further along but didn't think that far!!
But the problem is due to other health issues I am supposed to have a c section 2 weeks early but if they are so far out on my dates then this would all need changing!!
I am now stressing out as I thought I had so much long to get everything ready and now if I am 31 weeks then I could be having my baby in 7 weeks!!! I am so scared and nervous and excited all in one go!! I am having a scan on Wednesday to decide what they are going to do.
Had anyone else been through this? I am in a total daze and can't believe I might be having my baby so soon!!

Measuring ahead doesn't change the date they would do a section.
I was measuring 3 weeks ahead and had my section at 39 weeks going by my dates, not what I was measuring. baby wasn't massive either just 7lb 12.
I was convinced I was having a bruiser, just lying

Ah right. Only thing is I am high risk for pre eclampsia and also problems with other health issues if I go into labour so I'm not supposed to be left to go naturally and have a c section before this happens. So I'm worried that if she is further ahead then I would need to earlier.
Also midwife said her head is engaged and I have lost some of my mucus plug already. I'm so stressed out!! X

Stressful indeed, my mucus plug went around 30 weeks, but it grew back, I was also worried as baby was head down from 20 week scan and never turned just went from side to side. I was convinced I was going to go early, I think if I hadn't had the section I would have gone a few days after that, as was having contractions every night that never went anywhere and lost my mucus plug, but he stayed put till the section.
The way they put it to me was the baby might be measuring big but all it's organs are going by the original dates, so they try to leave them in as long as possible. So easier said than done but try and relax.
If you are under consultant care, if you went into labour and phoned, they would direct you accordingly.
You would think in this day and age, it would be less complicated and all the answers would be there, but it's not, which still annoys me.

Thank u. I am just so confused by it all. I know their dates are wrong anyway as my husband works away so I know exactly when I got pregnant and if I go off their dates he wasn't even here. So I know I am around 10 days further ahead than they are saying but they wouldn't listen to me and went off the 12 weeks scan which put me further behind than I am. My dates have been changed 4 times already! I wish they would just listen to me!! Xx

You didn't necessarily concieve when you had sex, spleen can live inside you for a period of time.

Also, the measurement you've been given that's four weeks ahead is your fundal height, the height of the top of your uterus, they aren't actually measuring your baby. It's not that accurate tbh, which is why they scan to check, although scans aren't always that accurate either. Even if your baby is measuring bigger now, it doesn't mean your dates have changed, it just means baby is on the large side for dates. It won't change your due date because at this stage there can be huge variation in the size of babies, whereas at 12 weeks difference in size is minimal, which is why they use that scan to date a pregnancy.

I measured 2 weeks ahead at a 28 week scan, son born very close to due date and wasn't even 7lbs!!!

I've been measuring big since 27 weeks, and am now 33. I've had a scan which showed polyhydramnios (excess amniotic fluid) so had a torch screening (for some viruses) and a glucose test for GD as baby had a big belly measurement.

Every test came back fine. Apparently I just have extra fluid. I'm not measuring 37 weeks and think mw will send me for another scan when I see her next week.

Measuring big is really common. Just be prepared for extra scans or appointments. It doesn't necessarily mean baby will be big or will come any quicker.

Is that midwife measuring you? If it is it can be so inacurate vary from one midwife to another. I alway have huge bellies yet normal size babies. Wont they send you for a scan if you measure too big?

I am having a scan on Wednesday then seeing my consultant. I have been measured by two midwives and 3 doctors and all are saying I am further ahead than they thought going off my 12 week scan. But to be honest I have been trying to tell them since the beginning that I am further ahead because I know when I hit pregnant and when my last period was and based on my dates what I am measuring is more likely than what they say xx

I've had my dates changed at 41+1 by their dates 40+2 by mine, it is unusual from what I've heard to get your dates changed, they like to cling to the 12 week dating scan results for dear life.

I was concerned about the fact they'd be inducing me early when my body still had time to go into labour naturally. Different situation to you but still about delivering baby safely and at the correct time.

It's just so annoying when I know that their dates are wrong and they won't listen no matter how many times I talk to them about it.
I just wish we could get it sorted so that I can relax and know that my baby will be born at a safe time for both of us x

Try not to stress, I was measuring 6 weeks ahead at 28 weeks, I had a growth scan the week after and everything was fine, it the babies position.

The measuring of the stomach isn't scientific at all and very hit and miss. Scans are better but even they are not accurate this far on. But I'm sure they will look after you if you are high risk.

Oh and for what I know of EDD they will go by size of baby more, EDD is just an estimate aswell.

I know when I had sex this time as it was just once and then I was ill with the flu, my dates have moved around so much. I don't even know now what they were in the first place. Its all esitimates not exact. Have a chat with your consultant, and just forget about the dates it doesn't really matter its just so they know where abouts you are.

I was measuring 45 weeks at 39. DD turned up 2 days before EDD at 8lb7oz and with a lot of fluid. I was sent for loads of GTT and warned bub would be >>10lb. The measurement is shite IMHO.
