Reassurance scan showed twins am in shock

Bit of background, I have had previous miscarriages followed by spotting in this pregnancy so I had a reassurance scan today at eight weeks.
I was really nervous because I had a scan at nearly six weeks which showed a sac but no foetal pole. Sonographer wouldn't tell me if everything was ok for what seemed like an eternity then told us it was identical twins!
Am obviously very happy but also scared, this pregnancy was planned but as I already have four children including a 12 month and 2 1/2 year old I am panicking a bit and I think I am still in shock.

Oooh congratulations as a mum to twins who are about to go to uni. The next 18 years will fly , you will never get a moments peace but it will be lovely and I wouldn't have changed a moment of it. Mine were 6 weeks early but are great big strapping kids now and are very close, they will always have a friend , I'm so happy for you . Enjoy every moment Smile

Congratulations! It is shocking though.
My advice? Accept all the help that is offered to you. Makes it more enjoyable.

SoonToBeSix · 27/08/2013 20:39

Thanks for support, uni seems a long way off butter do you have boys or girls or both?
Am just worried about practicalities the sonographer joked we would need a people carrier but we already have one a 7 seater but we will need 8 seats. Plus a triple pram because youngest will be only 18 months and possibly a buggy board as well. Also a bigger house. Any advice re cars and buggy s would be great.

Many congratulations SoonToBeSix Thanks

My Bil has 5 dc, they live in a 4-bed flat and drive a Mercedes something-or-other huge minibus-looking thing which is fantastic! He's in the car trade so got a very good deal (second hand/pre-loved/used, however you describe cars!). Oldest dc 12, youngest 3. They're all very down to earth and delightful. We buy them zoo tickets and water-park tickets for Christmas/birthdays as they really are treats. We also have the dc over in pairs, or the whole family at least once a month as the rest of the ILs don't like inviting them as there are so many mean ignorant pigs

valiumredhead · 27/08/2013 20:50

What about a double buggy plus sling? Triple prams are a bit enormous aren't they?

Wrt moving, don't panic yet.can you extend? Kids share with bunk beds for a while?

I think you need a busGrin

SoonToBeSix · 27/08/2013 20:54

ElQuinto you sound like a lovely aunty.
Yes I might think about a sling and a double buggy if I can't find a suitable triple. We won't move yet I am planning on squeezing the cots in our room for at least a year.

I'm a twin, it's fab! Grin Congratulations!

sandiy · 27/08/2013 21:23

Congratulations and welcome to the club.Twins are just the best hard work but just wonderful.Checkout the valco rebel twin with toddler seat blinkin expensive but I ebayed mine after and got half back.I had twins and 13 months later a boy.Don t ask me how you cope you just do.My triple let me carry on pretty much as normal.I used back carrier in the supermarket with double trolley. The valco also fits through normal doors so you can go anywhere alone.Essential when they are all sleeping just park them in the house and have lunch/drink etc.Don t listen to the negative comments focus on those of us who have been there and tell you how great it is.

princesscupcakemummyb · 28/08/2013 08:25

congrats id love twins Grin

resipsa · 28/08/2013 08:28

Congratulations! I'm jealous of your lovely big family already!!!

forevergreek · 28/08/2013 08:40

Take a look at the ' triple trio tandem baby jogger'. Iv never personally used but it seems fairly small in comparison to most, and a good combination for eldest at front and x2 smaller babies behind. Fairly cheap also at less than $500 ( I think that's about £400)

SoonToBeSix · 28/08/2013 08:42

Forever I hadn't heard of that pushchair I have a baby jogger city mini double at the moment that I love. I will have a look thanks.

MortifiedAdams · 28/08/2013 09:23

Adventure ABC for three or four bubs here its a bit of a beast!

Franykins · 28/08/2013 09:26

Congratulations Smile we found out at our 12 week scan we are having non id twins, a boy and a girl Smile Was a massive shock but now at 26+5 we are mega excited. They are my first but DP has 2 boys who live with us week on week off. we have a 2 bed house so next year will have to move (I fell a lot sooner than we thought I would so have planned to move before falling but it took a month!) Also instantly out grew our cars so part ex'd one for a Zafira, I know this will be too small for you. I think a lot of people love the VW Transporter that you can get lots of seats in and also the Mercedes Vito I think its called.

GampyWabbit · 28/08/2013 10:30

Congratulations! Very exciting! Smile

A family on our road are about to have their sixth child - they have a huge car, but live in a 3 bed semi, so are likely to be very overcrowded pretty soon Hmm

northernlurker · 28/08/2013 10:37

I have a friend who had three under two. She bought a mountain buggy triple but found it too big - wouldn't go through doors. She used her double with a sling and then a buggy board.

Congratulations Smile
