Hi
This is DC3.
With my first I didn't show until 26 weeks and was fairly miserable about it.
With DC2 I was much bigger but not worried about it either way.
This time I was barely able to hide my bump at 11 weeks.
Now at 16 weeks I'm the same size as I was at about 30 weeks first time round.
I'm normally a size 10 but have never truly worried about my body shape so please don't assume this is in my head. It's not a 'my body is changing and I'm not coping' problem.
I am genuinely worried about how huge I am.
I'm stating to dread someone saying 'how many weeks?' Because I just know they won't believe me when I tell them.
It's not twins. Some of it is fat as I had to eat my way out of hideous ms this time.

Is anyone else out there big at this stage? Is it just normal with each subsequent baby? I'm starting to dread leaving the house. :(

At 16 weeks a fair amount of it is probably bloating still. Peppermint or fennel tea is supposed to be good at relieving it, if you can stomach it.

What does the midwife think? I am def bigger with dc2 in comparison to first time...... Look 30 wks at 20

Blurry29 · 26/08/2013 23:05

Me too. I'm almost 18 weeks with DC2 and am huge compared to the first time around. Not just tummy area but everywhere Hmm I can't say I look particularly pregnant yet just very very round :( x

DC3 and 18 weeks here. My belly popped out a lot earlier and I have a big bump. My abdominal muscles are weaker after two pregnancies and two children-sections I think that is why I have a bigger bump this time around. I have been in maternity clothes since 13 weeks pregnant as I couldn't do my trousers up anymore.

Haven't seen the mw since my booking in appt. Got 16 week appt next Monday when I'll be 17+4.
Guess I'll ask then.
I have put on weight but this is a big round pregnancy bump. No hiding it.
Just much bigger than it should be.
:(

I was like this ( also usually a size 10, on dc3). I looked huge til about 20 weeks, then have sort of just grown upwards since, not outwards, which means I now look small at forty weeks.

Try not to worry too much. You do flop forwards in early and mid pregnancy when your abdo muscles are shot, but it probably won't carry on pushing outwards for ever.

I could have written your post OP-am on DC3, 16 weeks, hard round bump looking more like 7 months. People offer me seats on trains and offer to carry my bags etc as I look quite advanced. I've been worrying about it too...

I've got a MW appointment this week and will be pleased to get measured just to put my mind at rest. I think it is a lot to do with stomach muscles 'letting' the bump out earlier and I feel cheered by batfuttocks looking small at 40 weeks!

Wuxiapian · 27/08/2013 10:35

I'm also on Dc3 - 12 weeks looking 6 months.

Haven't told anyone, but reckon they must know - judging by my size alone.

Ho hum.

MrsJK · 27/08/2013 10:44

I'm only on DC2 and at 16 weeks feeling massive :(

Need reassurance that I will start looking pregnant rather than fat sometimes soon!! ahhhhhh

toisa · 27/08/2013 10:46

Ditto. Gets me down a bit... But I try to wise myself up ; I've had no problems conceiving, no complications in pg or delivery ... So really... I need to get things in perspective...

I looked FAT for ages. I was so embarrassed as I had looked so good with my first. My bump was high up and tight and I carried the weight gain well. I have been huge from the word go with a really low bump that draws comments from almost everyone I meet. Needless to say I don't feel quite as lovely this time and my eating has reflected that too. I am 40 + 4 today and so over looking ridiculous. Hope it all works out better for everyone else.
