What are other Mums to be doing locally?

I'm 22 Wks pregnant and just wondering what Mums are getting involved in locally? I'm not doing NCT and with working full time I'm a bit limited. I'm going to attend a sling library in Nov. I can't seem to find a lot of pregnancy groups. Are others Mums to be doing more? GrinX

I'm doing ante natal yoga and find that pretty good. We have cake after the session, and lots of chatting! There's also a bumps and babies NCT group (don't have to be a member to go) but it's when I'm at work. My midwife gave me a list of groups--aqua natal etc. you might want to ask your mw?

Thanks WT. I think part of it is just finding the time to commit. I feel like i should be embracing the Mums to be activities a little more Grin
Any Nottingham Mums? X

If it helps, I didn't enjoy yoga at first. Lots of sharing of feelings, people being into their pregnancies and I just wasn't--was feeling overwhelmed & so busy with work. But now I'm really pleased I made the time to go every week and I'm getting loads from it now, plus making contacts (can't call them friends yet!) for postbirth without the pressure of NCT.

two different ante-natal yogas, they've been great. i also worked in quite an intense job and the two yoga classes (both evenings) were my only real chance to think about the pregnancy and baby and properly relax/destress...

Hi fraggle. I'm a Nottingham mum to be, 25wks, work FT, also feel like I'm not really finding any pregnancy groups. Trying to save so as to meet financial commitments during mat leave does not leave a lot of spare cash for yoga etc. can't find an aquanatal group and MW not helpful, just says there's not a lot locally!! You're not alone!!

Hey PorkPie. I'm glad it's not just me then. Also i do struggle with the whole "how many weeks are you" conversations. It's good to hear one of the other posters stuck with it and now enjoying it Grinx

I'm the same! Working full time and overseas...in a country where vast majority of women who have kids give up work. Had no time to do NCT....

Also cannot do yoga etc due to cerclage. It can feel quite isolating. Thank heaven for MN!

Are you doing nhs antenatal classes? You'll meet some mums there at least!! I know what you mean about the 'how many weeks' etc conversations but its a bit of common ground to start from.
I'm doing a one off nct class on water birth. Where did you find the sling class?

Same here - I haven't done any meet-ups. We're doing the NHS antenatal classes for 4 weeks starting next week so hopefully meet someone then.
We do have quite a lot of friends around here (which is why we moved to this area when I got pregnant) so I do have support - and one friend is now pregnant to and exactly 20 weeks behind me (to the day).

I looked in to antenatal Yoga but not cheap. Might have to look into it again. Thanks for reminding me with this thread Smile

Hey PorkPie. I just googled it. It in the main library in the City. They meet every second Thursday of the month 10-12pm. I'm just about to call about the NHS antenatal classes Grin
