Likelihood of getting GD if everything's been fine so far...?

I'm 28 weeks and suddenly look much bigger than I have been so I'm panicking I've now got GD. Everything's been fine so far, baby measuring normal, all tests coming back normal up to now. I've got SPD so can't do much exercise so am worried about my weight gain, can it give you GD if you put on a lot? I've got my 28 week tests this week and am really worried. Do you have any earlier indications you might have it, or can it literally just suddenly appear?

Sorry if this all sounds ridiculous, just can't help fretting.

When is your next scan? I had GD picked up last time as I had an extra scan (bleeding in pregnancy) and the scanning doctor said he was very big and I should have another test.

I last had a scan 2 weeks ago and all was normal, I've got my 28 week blood tests this week coming and my next big scan is my growth scan on 20th September. I'm just so nervous!

I don't think a lot of weight gain could give you GD, no. It's hormonal really, which is why it goes again as soon as the placenta is delivered.

Just to be confusuing, I do have GD, which was diagnosed at 8 weeks this time and my bump looks average, is measuring small, but scans show baby is around the 91st centile, so large although not giant. Grin

It'll be fine if you do have GD, the main thing is they know so can treat it.

Hmm. Keep an eye on how thirsty / tired / how much you need the loo. Also, I crave sweet things when GD is not under control.
