Ate some liver in 1st trimestre-panicking now!

Hi,
This might be a silly panic but I'm trying to avoid all the foods that I shouldn't eat. I'm stuck at my Mil's house for 2 weeks and it's a battle to get her to understand. And I just read that I shouldn't eat liver but I did the other day (yuck)... Is it serious if it was just once?

You'll be fine. Don't worry.

Remember lots of people would have eaten things they are advised not to and drunk alcohol in the first trimester before they knew they were pregnant. I did.

Don't stress too much about what you eat. It's highly unlikely you'll catch salmonella (unpleasant for you but no problem for the baby) or listeria (bit more serious but massively unlikely) or toxoplasmosis (most likely already had it).

Not serious at all. The advice about liver is to prevent overconsumption of vitamin A, which isn't going to happen from eating it once.

LittleBearPad · 25/08/2013 08:20

Ooh yes forgot vit A, sorry.

LittleBear's advice is also relevant if you are pâté OP, although I assumed you were talking about cooked liver.

It was one of my mother's cravings whilst she had my brother and she admitted she craved it raw! (yuck). She definitely would of eaten it a lot. I don't know whether she succumbed to the raw bit, probably had it lightly cooked though! I hate the stuff, pregnant or not...your MIL would probably think I'm very picky! Grin

Thanks everyone, that has calmed me down Smile
I'm not usually such a mess but my Mil seems intent on feeding me literally everything on the no list! (That's for another thread I think...)

daftdame RAW? God, frankly I had trouble swallowing it cooked... It's not on the very short list of things I want to eat at the moment....

Yes, I have come to the conclusion my mother has very different tastes to me! Grin
