I'm 26+3 And allot of people seem to be saying ooo you've got a big bump how far are you? When I tell them they are shocked I'm due at the end of nov... Is anyone else like this?! It's kind of annoying me! X

Not necessarily.

Big bump could mean big baby, or it could mean lots of water, the way baby is lying, etc.

I'm 30 weeks and my bump is measuring perfectly, yet I had lots of people at about 25 weeks telling me how big my bump was.

A friend of mine was measuring really small her entire pregnancy, yet her baby was 9lbs!

vix206 · 23/08/2013 15:58

I'm 5 months pregnant and people keep saying I must be due any day now ShockShock

Was the same with last pregnancy and he was 8lb9. Big for someone of my size but hardly a giant.

SoYo · 23/08/2013 15:58

Nah, nobody tells you you've got a perfect sized bump! About 75% of busybodies people said my bump was massive and the rest said it was tiny. Best to ignore them & go by how you feel & the proper measurements!

RemoteControlledChaos · 23/08/2013 16:04

Hello OP I am 26+0

I think a lot of how your bump measures must be down to your own size. I am small, last time even the mws thought I was measuring small so had some extra scans which showed normal sized baby... And lo and behold DS popped (ahem) out at 8lbs.

Boreoff · 23/08/2013 16:04

I measured small and had a 9lb 6 baby, a friend measured slightly bigger for dates and had a 7lb 2 baby. With my first baby my bump was huge and baby was 8lb 12.

So I don't think you can really tell, saying that bumps can look larger if you are only slight in build.

Daffodill27 · 23/08/2013 16:09

I'm a size 12 so pretty normal size really! I find it funny how everyone suddenly seems to turn into a Midwife and tell you your bump is big, I also find people compare you to other people oh my friend is a week ahead of you and her bump isn't that big! Well good for your friend! Ha! Thanks for the reassurance ladies :)

My friend had a massive bump for most of her pregnancy, I thought at 10 weeks she was gonna be enormous by full term but she slowed down after about 30 weeks and had a tiny baby she was only 5lb something full term. It does all depend on how much water you are carrying with the baby aswell

princesscupcakemummyb · 23/08/2013 16:14

not really i had a huge bump with my 1st dc it turned out i had a really lot of fluid in their with my last pregnancy and this one im expecting now also due november i have a small bump lol

BinarySolo · 23/08/2013 16:16

What SoYo said. People say it as something to say.

Kind of like the odd woman i met this week who said 'as long as it's healthy and you can always pop out another' when I told her that I was expecting another boy.

Boreoff · 23/08/2013 16:20

Binarysolo - what is wrong with some people?! A lady said to me looking at my adored 3rd dd "what a shame you had another girl, what a shame you didn't get a boy" wtf

Daffodill27 · 23/08/2013 16:21

Really?! I would not know what my reply to that would be!

Well I've laughed it off really. I'm very happy to be having another boy and if we do have a third I'd be happy to have a boy again. I just said if he's as lovely as his brother then I have no cause for complaint.

I did think she was an insensitive old bag tho! I mean, just pop out another one? We were lucky to not struggle to conceive but she didn't know that!

MrsMangoBiscuit · 23/08/2013 16:29

I'm 8 months in and I've been told by different people, 2 minutes apart, first that I had a very neat bump, then that I was huge and must be having twins! Everyone has a different opinion on what a big bump looks like.

I'm expecting DD2 and have been told not to worry, I can try for a boy again next time. I wasn't trying for a boy in the first actually, just a baby! And next time?!? Grin

gintastic · 23/08/2013 16:30

My smallest bump was my biggest baby :-)

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 23/08/2013 16:34

Also depends on how many pregnancies you've had and your muscle tone too.

BeQuicksieorBeDead · 23/08/2013 16:39

I keep being told by everyone and I mean everyone, wow your bump is massive. Went for my midwife appointment yesterday, 27 weeks, and measured perfectly for dates. I was so shocked, I nearly fell off the bed!

I am a chunky monkey in real life though, not just pregnancy... Size 16. I do at least look pregnant though now, rather than horribly bloated!

mycatlikestwiglets · 23/08/2013 16:45

I'm a size 6-8 usually and 5'3". I carry very large - measuring bang on for dates, but my bump definitely looks huge on me because it's so disproportionate to my size in general! I also show very early (9 weeks first pregnancy, by about 12 weeks this time).

DC1 was fairly sizeable so I guess that goes along with the "big bump big baby" theory to some extent, but I think your own height and build plays a bigger part in whether people view you as having a big or small bump.

Quaffle · 23/08/2013 16:57

Huge bump.

Baby weighed nearly 11lb.

HarumScarum · 23/08/2013 17:56

I had a MASSIVE bump and a 7lb baby. Bump size is not related to size of baby in all cases.

plentyofsoap · 23/08/2013 20:26

Last pregnancy my waters went first and my bump deflated in front of my eyes so alot of water in there! This time I am measuring 27 weeks when I am 25, but baby does feel bigger so we shall see. Have a scan at 30 weeks and it may even out by then. I am quite small but married to a huge man so this one may take after him. People say odd things to you when you are pregnant. A friend said to me at 20 weeks "should you be that big?" which I thought was quite rude, but it happens.
