Looks and feels like mastitis. But I'm only 16 weeks pregnant?

I've had sore boobs since 5/6 weeks pg.
This is DC3. I'm very familiar with mastitis from DC1 sadly.
But this time the sore boobs have got bigger, hotter, redder and more painful than ever.
Is it possible to get mastitis before, (way!) before actually feeding? I'm only 16 weeks pregnant.
But the skin is red, you can see all the raised vessels/capillaries and they're so hot and sore it's ridiculous.
Help!

call the nhs helpline for advice. Or your out of hours service. Sounds painful!

I had mastitis aged 15, long before I had children. Get an OOH appointment today if you can.

It can happen, see gp and get a referral to breast clinic for a scan too. The people who get this in pregnancy often have had it before and have normal non infectious mastitis though it can, of course, become infectious.

It often settles down as pregnancy continues. Might be worth taking lecithin, might help though its use is anecdotal and theoretical only. Checking bras don't constrict is sensible, google reverse pressure softening and see if that helps. Hope you get comfortable soon.
