Worried about 8 week scan tomorrow

The last time I had an 8 weeks scan in April a MMC was confirmed, it had died at 7w 3days.

I had a scan ten days ago and all was perfect, heartbeat showing and measuring bang on for dates, but I am so scared that I will go in the morning and be told it's all gone wrong again.

I almost died during the miscarriage when it finally happend 4 weeks after the scan and I can't go through it all again.

I am so nervous about tomorrow.

(((hugs))) wishing you all the best.

Good luck today Mak - I had a MMC earlier this year discovered at my 12 week scan. Am now pregnant again and having my 12 week scan today so understand how terrified you must be. I've had a couple of early scans, but had the same last time and still lost the baby.

Everything I've read says there's no increased risk of MMC simply because its happened to you before. I read something that said basically that it shows your body is good at nurturing a baby, as even though the baby couldn't survive, your body still kept caring for it even after it had died, so next time when there isn't anything wrong with the baby you will do an amazing job. I thought that was a lovely way to look at it. What time is your scan?

NotSoSuper · 22/08/2013 09:34

Hope it all goes well for you tomorrow.
I have my 12 week scan (well I should be 13 weeks) tomorrow too after a mmc in March so I'm a nervous wreck.

Sorry don't have anything useful to say just wanted to let you know you're not alone Thanks

NotSoSuper · 22/08/2013 09:36

Hope it all goes well for you today as well rockchick

Rockchick1984 · 22/08/2013 09:37

And for you tomorrow Super

Makqueen · 22/08/2013 10:01

Rockchic that's what my dr told me, that it wasn't my body. It did its job and clung onto the pregnancy (for 7 weeks after it died), that there was something obviously something wrong with the baby. To have that again I'd have to be very unlucky.

The first scan I had in the lost pregnancy there was a slow heartbeat, I was a week and a half behind with dates, which I knew was impossible as I would have had a positive test before I'd conceived. So there was something very wrong.

With this pregancy, the scan I had at the same stage was perfect. I just want tomorrow to be ok. But then, I am still only 8 weeks! I will see if the EPU will do another at 10, if not, I'll book a private one for then.

If something goes wrong between 8 and 12 weeks I want to know ASAP.

Scan is at 9am tomorrow morning.

Good luck rockchick and super with yours, I really hope all is well.

My heart goes out to you. I've also had a MMC previously and it was awful. Since then, I've had a beautiful little boy who is nearly two. I've got my 12 week scan tomorrow and I'm still terrified about it. I don't think it gets any easier even if you have previously had a normal, healthy pregnancy, as there is simply just no way of knowing until you get to see inside for the first time.

Have faith though and try to remember that the odds are in your favour. Even if it does happen again (which is very unlikely), you will get through it. I'm sure all will be fine at the scan. Let us know how it goes xxxxSmile

I keep reading into stupid things as well.

Dh just emailed me from work and told me about a really bizzare dream he had where his teeth were falling out. Well, that means impending bad news.

I don't even believe in crap like that, but even that has me worrying.

mak if everything looked perfect in your previous scan chances are everything will be perfect today too! As you said when things went wrong last time it was obvious from early on (discrepancy in dates, slow heartbeat). I've 2 MMCs (1 MMC, 1DD, 1MMC, now 30 weeks pregnant) but didn't have any early scans with the 2 pregnancies that failed - I did with the successful ones though and everything looked great at my early scans as well as my 12-weeks ones.

All the best for today! x

Thankyou.

I just desperately want this baby to be ok. And, selfishly, I am worried about having another MC because of the horrible complications I had. I nearly lost my life, it was awful. I sometimes can't believe I have done this to myself again.

Thinking of you, it's such a stressful time. I had 2 MMCs and have 2 DCs.

MMC1 at 8 weeks had ERPC as our wedding was 10 days later
DS. A few pregnancy scares incl CVS
MMC2 at 8 weeks discovered at 12 week scan. ERPC again.
DD.

Nothing makes the waiting easier or the worrying less those first few months when you've had a MC. All the best.

a successful pregnancy and a wonderful baby at the end of it makes it all worthwhile - I promise! You will get there mak, I know it feels like an unattainable goal at times but you will and it will be amazing Smile

Makqueen · 23/08/2013 10:21

Scan was fine Smile

Good heartbeat, size is all fine. Very relieved!

Smile fantastic news Smile Smile

Makqueen · 23/08/2013 16:36

Thankyou.

Dh was able to get a couple of hours off work to come with me, he was trying not to cry!

I am going to book a private scan for ten weeks though, just to make sure everything is still ok.

It was so lovely to see it's little heart beating fast and to hear it has doubled in size from last scan.
