Sitting a driving test when pregnant - mad?

I'm currently TTC Baby #2 , but am also learning to drive. Instructor thinks I'll be looking at October before I sit my test.

Has anyone sat their driving test while pregnant? If so, do you think it made it any more difficult e.g. were you just too knackered, found it hard to concentrate, needed to pee constantly, took longer to pass than you may have done otherwise??

just wondering whether actually we should hold off TTC until after I pass, or, should we just keep going and hope I'll be alright? I had a pretty good pregnancy first time around, although I do remember being pretty knackered (and a bit nauseous) in the first trimester.

This is my second time learning to drive (long story) so I want to keep going with it and actually sit my test this time. But I also think we shouldn't put of TTC because, well, sometimes these things can take a while, can't they?

My friend didn't start learning to drive until she was pregnant and passed her test 1st time at seven and a half months. You wont know how you'll be feeling until your pregnant so i would go for it,if you are feeling bad when it gets close to your test you can always delay it. And as you say, these things can take a while and when you think about it october isn't that far away. Good luck

Passed my test shortly after my 12 week scan. Kept driving until the week I gave birth (my bump wasn't in the way). Did my first solo motorway drive (5 hours with toddler) when I was about 7 months. No problems at all. Go for it! Being able to drive has been an absolute boon with two kids. I ca get places a lot more easily and if they are both playing up the car is the one place my eldest still naps.

I passed my test when I was about 11 weeks gone with number 2. The only thing that it really affected was when I was told I'd passed I burst into tears, clearly the hormones lol I would go for it if I were u as its amazing being able to drive esp with children. I have a 3 and a half year old son and I can now take him anywhere, even something as silly as being able to go for the food shop without waiting for hubby to finish work to drive us there. It's great! I've been driving almost a year now and I could never go back to feeling 'stranded' after having the freedom the car gives u. I'm currently expecting again, lost baby number 2, and can't wait to have the use of a car this time around from baby being a newborn. It's the one thing I would defo recommend doing before having kids if u have the chance, good luck on passing and ttc!

Thanks everyone. I've decided to keep up with TTC :-)

Was just a bit worried because I had a bit of a duff lesson the other week, was just not on the ball (tired I think) and made lots of silly mistakes. But the week after I was totally fine and really on top of it. I guess if I'm not that well I can delay it a bit. I never got very big last time so I don't think I'll have that to worry about.

I did mine 10 days before my due date and failed. Learning pregnant was fine but the bloody examiner kept me out for 40 minutes instead of 20 and failed me in the last 10 minutes. I should have faked some contractions!

Passed when dd was 6 months old. So worth the effort!

sewingandcakes · 21/08/2013 21:00

Failed my first test but passed the second, both while 4/5 months pregnant. Go for it!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 21/08/2013 21:19

I passed second time at 7 weeks gone, with horrific nausea and tiredness. It can be done Grin.

Possibly the examiner took one look at my drawn, green face and decided discretion was the better part of valour though...

Fakebook · 21/08/2013 22:32

Yes I did, and I passed. I was the only person who passed in the test centre that slot, out of 12 people. You can do it

ZingWantsCake · 21/08/2013 22:40

aced theory test

failed first driving test at 7 months pg (you must check both sides and mirrors before completing 3-point turn!)
got out of test car, got in my own car and drove home (with a still valid Hungarian driving licence! ) - you should have seen people's faces!Grin

I took 2nd driving test in my own car a month later (so 8 months pg) - aced it.

I had to get it right that time, so I did. Wink

good luck OP!

So it can be done :-)

Oh brilliant, congratulations on ur double whammy!!! Xxx

BummyMummy77 · 29/10/2013 22:28

I sat my theory last week and REALLY wanted to do my practical but haven't got a date until a week after my due date which I've cancelled as I think he'll turn up by then.

I wanted to do it at 38 weeks so the examiner was more likely to pass me lol.

I've been driving 18 years though so I'll be horrified if I fail!

GuyMartinsSideburns · 30/10/2013 14:34

Oh that's lovely news! Congratulations Grin

I came on here to say I passed at 8 months preg, but this info is of no use to you now lol
