Basically what is says on the tin ^ lol. Had my gtt this morning. Blood taken twice and told to drink a horrible glucosey cup of water. Felt ill whilst waiting in the clinic for next lot of bloods. Got home and been sick 3 times in an hour. Weird thing is i havent been sick once since falling pregnant so dont know whats caused this. Any ideas? Ive had some toast but that came back up. Cant face anymore food I feel soooo hungover!!! Has anyone else had this?? :(

No, didn't have this but sympathies. When I had mine I felt horrendously sick but was ok once I ate some food.

Hopefully someone can give more advice.

Managed to keep a pot noodle down. Time will tell. Baby still kickin away so she seems fine. Had blood taken before and ive never felt like this afterwards. Does glucose have any effects?? I dont really drink lucozade/energy drinks so think my body may just not agree with it.

Thankyou for sympathy rollermum! Hope u are well!x

It could be a reaction to the glucose coupled with the bloods being taken. I felt dreadful with mine. HAve you managed to have a sleep

BunInMyOven93 · 16/08/2013 15:04

No not slept since been home. Dont feel tired just so sick. If its still bad in an hour i'll ring my kidwife see what she thinks. Is the reaction serious? Or do u think its just because im not used to glucose?

I felt very sick after my GTT, all day and night, but I wasn't sick. I think its a mixture of fasting, slight dehydration and that horrible drink.

Just take it slow and have plenty of fliuds.

FieryChipotle · 16/08/2013 19:43

Bun, it's probably the glucose. I've always had a bad reaction the same as yours. It could well be that you have a high blood glucose level following the test, which is making you feel rubbish. Equally, your body could be in a bit of shock from the sudden change in glucose levels. Drink lots of water and take it easy for the rest of the day. Call your midwife if you feel any worse.

Urgh, yes the drink is foul! I swore never to drink lucazade again. Glad you could eat something and hope you feel better soon.

Nigglenaggle · 16/08/2013 20:38

Yeah felt awful following mine too. I ate straight away after (bet that damn cafe next to the waiting room does well grr) and that sorted me out, but did wonder if I would have been sick otherwise. Mine came back normal. Waste of time and money, IMO. Hope you feel better soon

Felt better after a bath ladies. Thankyou :)! I wonder if I drank a lucozade today I'll feelbpoorly again!? Not even going to risk it...

and after all that I forgot to ring back for my results. Ut oooh!!
