when can i do a pregnancy test, don't know when period due but do know roughly when had sex (roughly :D)

any pregnancy supersleuths out there who can figure this out.

had unprotected sex on about 24th July and again about a week later.

i'm useless at keeping track of period and have no idea when the last one was although haven't had sex since last period until those dates.

point is, i'm supposed to be going out for drinks this weekend and don't want to drink if i shouldn't be.

So would a test done on friday tell me anything?

All depends on when your period is due but 2 weeks after you had sex should give an accurate result.

So yeah I'd test on Friday and then if negative, test again the following Friday if still no period.

Last Friday? Unlikely. Anytime from now if you think it would have been 24th, any time from next Wednesday if it was a week later.

Hi, very happy to be corrected but as I understand it - as a rule of thumb - a pregnancy test taken 14 days after you last had unprotected sex should give a pretty reliable result.

Thus, a test on Friday would let you know whether you conceived following your 24th july encounter. However, it could still be too soon to tell re: the session a week later,

In your shoes, I'd test on Friday but - even if was negative - go easy on the alcohol over the weekend.

i'll pick up a test tomorrow and do it first thing friday.

so, i bought a test on the way to work this morning. did the test with my second wee of the day at 9am. looked well and truly positive result.

did the second test when i got home around 7pm and it was positive but more faint.

looks like i'm pregnant. have also managed to pin down date of conception to either 22nd july or 29th july.

it's more likely to be 22nd isn't it?

Yes much more likely to be 22nd. It takes a while for the egg to implant and the hormones to be produced that give a positive test.

Defo more likely to be 22nd. Normally takes about 10-14 days post conception to have high enough hormone levels for a hpt to detect.
