Bloody show getting worse 40+4

So started having bloody show yesterday, was brown. More today though last couple of hours has increased and gone red. Also having period type pains. Called hospital, they seemed unconcerned for now as long as blood is mucus-like as opposed to actual blood and not soaking through pad. It isnt yet though and getting heavier and bloodier and alarming me a bit.
Should this stop soon and at which point should I call the hospital back. They said not to go in until contractions are excrutiating and im not sure im even getting them at all yet.

I'd say if you're worried , call back & ask if you can pop in to be checked

My show started 10 days before going into labour, just streaked at first then the day before it was brown then the day I went into labour it was bright red, it carried on that way and getting redder and more till I had him 2 days later, it was always of mucusy consistency though. So yours sounds normal, but if you are concerned insist on a check up, I did. Good luck shouldn't be long now x

Hi, I'm afraid I don't know much about this but I don't like the idea of you worrying without help.
I think the best idea is to call back and tell them you are worried about it and hopefully they may take more time to fully explain or offer you a check up. Please don't suffer in silence. Remember, they are there to help you Smile
I'm sure everything is fine but I understand you being on high alert. Please keep us informed of how you are getting on xx

I think if you are worried its worth getting checked out, my midwife said they would always check bleeding out. Yes this probably just a show but you can go, get checked out and then come home and relax feeling reassured.

The hospital would much rather see you and check all is OK.

Hi Christelle, I second giving them another ring and saying that you're worried and are going to come in to get checked out. Then you can relax a bit before things get started properly.

thanks all. after calling them back and insisting that the show was bloodier than i liked the look of, they told me to come in. 12 h later am (a bit) further on in labour and they are keeping a close eye on me because of bleeding but it's virtually stopped. fx will have newborn cuddles this evening.
