Im around 8/9 weeks and so far was feeling lucky so far as pg symptoms go as apart from extreme tiredness i was ok.

This morning i woke up with normal boobs with very slightly sore nipples as they have been. Tonight they are Sooooooo painful and heavy and really do feel like boulders sat on on my chest!

I only ever had average tenderness with my last two and that was gradual so this has come as bit of a shock!

Anyone else found that their boobs got so sore so quick???

Mine did with ds (12wks) got up for work one morning and wham there they were and none of my work clothes fit. And ouch if they were accidentally touched

Mine grew early on quite suddenly too. I also got some horrible stretch marks on them :(

thanks for replies ladies i was worrying a bit tbh cos thet r so painful and it came on so sudden i was thinkin somthin was wrong, it feels just like mastitis and they even feel warm to the touch. But im assuming mastitis at this stage just wouldnt be possible!

I truly hope they dont stay this way for too long cos its awful :-(

The pain will go away, but the size will probably remain.

Mastitis will show as a red rash with a very clear outline, and you will have headaches, your joints ache, and be running a fever.

I've had it twice since having ds, but not whilst pregnant.

Mine became so cumbersome in the first few weeks that I was having trouble sleeping as they felt in the way! Now nearly 30+5 and I'm still not used to them...never thought I'd want my small manageable breasts back!

frusso i think thats why iwas bit more woried cos ive not been so well in last few days with high temp, going hot n cold, achy, etc, but doc put it down to chest infection and ive heen on antibiotics since sun.
But when i woke up with the pain/swelling/warmth in boobs i started thinkin mastitis as it felt exactly like when i had it after my first dc. I know that prob sounds stupid but i didnt know if it was possible during pregnancy as well as after.
Today they are still sore but not quite as bad but ive had tight sports bra on for two days so im thinking maybe thats helped.

Serious i know what you mean about sleeping i couldnt get comfy the last couple nights so hoping for better night tonight!

The things we have to endure in pregnancy :-|

lozza I was given anti-biotics "for at least 10 days" to clear it, so if you have a course of antibiotics that should halo clear it if it is mastitis.

I don't know if it is possible to have during pregnancy.

  • ahh just reread you last post, if you've produced milk before, then I guess it could be possible.

If you're into herbal, slippery elm food, (from a health food shop,) mixed into a paste with water and pasted onto the painful parts can give relief.

Also a well fitting bra for your new size would help. My 1st bout was most likely because of the way I was sleeping in that my arm was pressing my boob in my sleep. So something like that coupled with the milk production process could I guess cause it. (I could be wrong, I'm not a medical professional)

Thanks frusso, i wud try anyyhin tbh if it wud help so i will give that a shit, thanks. I had cabbae leaves stuffed in my bra with dc1 cos was desperate ti relieve the pain which at thst point was worse than labour i thought. Like u i dont kno if its possible before birth as googling brings up vague info. If it gadnt eased at all today i had intended to call midwife but i hate being a pest so as it wasnt quite as bad i thought id hang on n see how it goes. And i think this time im defo gona need a proper matrrnity bra, i never bothered with first dcs but this time things are apparently diff :-|

Yeah with my 1st 2 my boobs didn't get big until my milk came in after birth. 3rd and it was about that stage you are at now.
Don't worry about being a pest to the midwives, ime they'd much rather you made a fuss and stayed healthy.

give that a 'try' dam phone!

mine were really sore & tender during the first trimester, one thing that really helped me was buying these sleep bras
www.mothercare.com/Blooming-Marvellous-Lace-Non-Wired-Nursing-Sleep-Bra---2-pack/LX0144,default,pd.html
it makes getting to sleep & getting up in the morning much easier, & they're nursing ones so they'll be good once you have the baby if you're nursing.
