First day of maternity leave.....

I started mat leave today and feel really weird!

I feel a bit lost - what do I do now? It feels like there is a vast expanse of space to fill but I don't know how, I don't have many friends outside of work and only a small family. I seem to recall having some hobbies before work took all of my time but these were all quite active and not really compatible with pregnancy (indoor climbing and cycling mainly).

Did anyone else feel weird when they started mat leave?

I'm not on mat leave yet but recently out of work. I find myself clock watching waiting for DH to get home unless I set myself a task for each day. Even if it's just a little one it makes me feel less useless!

Im on mat leave too and it does feel really weird not to have anything particular to do with my day, especially as I live in a new area so have no friends or relatives nearby. I've tried to do something baby related most days. I've been vest and sleepsuit shopping, ordered the buggy, washed the clothes and blankets, packed my hospital bag etc. I also deep cleaned so light dusting and hoovering should keep the house covered in the first few weeks. A few frozen meals like lasagna, spaghetti Bol, curries etc and huge tubs of biscuits are next on the list!
Also, once 37 weeks hit I have been so tired that I've filled a few hours with a nap every afternoon!!

Hi, I have 3 weeks leave before mat leave kicks in. I've been tidying my disgustingly dirty house (!), baking and generally walking round like a zombie as only getting a couple of hours sleep a night. I booked a pregnancy massage one day, and a haircut the next to give myself something to do in the middle of the day! I can't keep doing that tho as I'll be broke by the time the baby gets here...! I have a pile of books to read and so far haven't watched the TV I intended to waste away in front of. I was exhausted at work so grateful to be off. In 2 more weeks I'd be bored stiff, but pinterest, ebay and mumsnet are keeping me amused right now! xx

I would count yourself lucky to have not much to do cos as u get onto susequent pregnancies and have young kids demanding all your time and attention it gets completely exhasting!
I would do anything for just a little bit of time where i have nothing to do, even five minutes for a nap zzzzzz

Its such a funny stage to be at, I was counting the days to leaving work but now I kind of miss it! I drove past my workplace today and felt like nipping in just to check things we ok without me - which is ridiculous because I know full well that work can survive without me!

I am trying to plan at least one activity type thing every day but am also trying to store things up for when the baby is born and I am a bit more tied to the house / sofa / TV. But I know what you mean queasy - I too am running the risk of being totally broke soon!

And I am the world's worst 'boredom eater' so am having to avoid the kitchen at all costs!
