Am I being really anal about this?

I probably am. Feel free to kick me up the arse.

I'm currently sorting though the mountains of baby clothes that have been given to me in preparation for the arrival of my little boy (due in November :)). I've found myself giving away lots of lovely clothes, just because they have buttons on them and I'm terrified of a button coming off and it choking my DS. It's probably because I remember choking badly when I was little. Would you/have you dressed your little one in clothes with buttons?

I avoided them with DS1 but I'm not worried with DS2.

I would give them away because buttons are such a faff on baby clothes.

Thanks for the replies, I think I'll avoid them for now :) just didn't know if I was being totally unreasonable :p

I think it's fine to be unreasonably anal when it comes to babies if it makes you feel better! I have a fear of choking too, and although it hadn't occurred to me before that buttons posed a risk, I can totally understand your no button policy! x

Your baby, your choice. Life is stressful enough with a new baby without any additional worries. Poppers and zips are much easier anyway!

Glad I'm not being too crazy, thank you! :)

I'm due in November also and this had never even occurred to me!! Luckily I'm so unprepared we haven't yet got any clothes so I can avoid them easily enough Smile. I agree with previous posters anyway buttons are too fiddly on baby clothes lol

You will thank yourself if you have an octopus baby like dd2 Grin she's bloody nightmare to get dressed.

Maternal anxiety is all consuming. If removing buttons eases it a bit do it and don't feel silly,
