hi all,

im 8 weeks pregnant and have noticed my cervix is open where i can fit the tip of my index finger in (sorry tmi)

it has been a bit looser than usual but only slightly since i have had medically managed miscarriage at 8-9 weeks before and had a erpc for a mmc at 7 weeks also, but seems to be much more open now. those have been my only two pregnancies, no children.

i am worried that i'll need a suture and don't want to leave it too late / would like to get things moving if this is the case asap

who would i tell and when? i don't have a midwife yet and my gp surgery is awful for making appointments, just not sure what to do

thanks in advance, x

Hi chicarito

Sorry to hear about your losses. I had a stitch at 14 weeks due to having most of my cervix is removed during some lletz procedures. If you pop over to the ante natal club board there is a group of us with cervical issues and lots of advice there.

From what I know if your cervix is incompetent it will open (funnel) from the other end, not the vaginal end, so this may not be anything to worry about.

Have you ever had your cervix scanned and was it short? These measurements starts becoming quite important in determining if you need a stitch or not.

I would say first step is to speak to doc and get a cervical scan to measure you.

Good luck. If you do need a stitch they can be very successful, I'm 31 weeks on Tuesday and the group of us on the other board are all doing well.

Thank you that's really helpful! Will call my doctor tomorrow to see if they can give me an examination!

that's interesting about it happening from the top, it just seems strange that it would be open that much!

Will check out that thread too, thank you! X
