I am 35 weeks pg with twins and that I have got huge noticing bits of me I couldn't see before. I have always had skin tags and little moles/raised areas of skin (?) and I have red its common for these to increase because of the pg hormones. I have noticed that some of the moles are getting a bit darker despite being under clothes/bra all the time.

I have the final appt with the consultant tomorrow and plan to mention it but has anyone experienced this?

Apologies for the spelling mistakes, trying to do this on the phone!

I think your melanin increases when you're pregnant so that could explain the change in colour. I've also noticed some skin tags that were never there before and I know that is due to being pregnant but I have no idea why! I would mention it at your next appointment as planned as any changes in moles should be looked at, but I'm sure it's fine and they'll go back to normal soon.

yes with my first child i got tons of so called beauty spots on my neck and shoulders, and husband said back too. Befor that i had the odd mole. Midwife said it was related to hormones and would go eventually. Tey haven't gone with each pregnancy and over time i seem to have more and they look darker at certain times. Like now in summer heat they have intensified on my neck anyone would think i have freckles.

apparently its nothing harmful but like most moles you should keep an eye out for Changes i.e symmetry, border, colour, size, bleeding. I think its impossible to do that unless you have a partner who will diligently check your body on a regular basis.

Yes definitely mention it and ask that a dermatologist check your skin. I had been checked regularly before pregnancy as lived in hot sunny countries and have loads of moles, had a few removed but none dodgy. Until pregnancy. Late in pregnancy with DS1 the consultants saw one that they said they woiuld monitor.

I wish it had been removed then; as when checked when DS1 3 months old they though it had changed, removed it, and it was a malignant melanoma. So while DS1 was wee I had lots more tests, two lots of surgery to check lymph nodes, and again under general to remove lymph nodes. I was on 3 monthly checks for 2 years and will be 6 monthly up to 5 years, when the risk of recurrence drops.

I don't say this to scare you, as you may know skin can change during pregnancy. However just because it changes might not be owing to pregnancy; it could be down to more serious changes. Often moles removed are benign tumours (pre pregnancy I had about 8 removed that were benign which was a relief.) So yes, get it checked.

Removal of moles pre baby prob easier than when you have a baby in tow, speaking from experience!

I've got loads of skin tags since getting pregnant, under my arms, under my boobs, one on one areola, in the groin fold (that ones particularly sore and rubbing on knicker elastic :( ), a new crop on the side of my neck, even one between my buttocks Blush

never actually thought it was to do with pregnancy tbh but I guess it must be

I got a few extra skin tags when pregnant, but then the new ones and my existing ones dried up and dropped off in late pregancy Grin

I was very pleased Grin

I think you should get them checked out - agree with other posters re changing in borders, colours, asymmetry, itching, bleeding etc always worth getting those moles checked to out your mind at ease.

Roadtotuapeka - I could have written your post, I went through what sounds like exactly the same diagnosis/surgery etc when dd1 was 3 months, also wish i had my mole removed sooner.
