Tucks Hemorrhoidal Pads!!

I kid you not, these are the best invention ever. I used them after every PG and the relief on my sore "downstairs" was wonderful. I would recommend them to anyone.

Random post but DH just reminded me with a memory.

Ooo they sound better than greeting visitors with a bag of frozen peas in your leggings like I did!

MultipleMama · 29/07/2013 00:33

You can wipe with them and use them over maxi pads. I was way too sore to wipe at first so just put them over pad. TMI but there you go.

I remember laying on bed with packs frozen mash then a friend lent me TUCKS haha.

Bit concerned that you borrowed someone else's pads MM!

Weegiemum · 29/07/2013 13:50

I'd say gin

Newmum0113 · 29/07/2013 21:48

Touch wood, I've never suffered with haemorrhoids, even at 28+4 (still a way to go, I know!)

Are you referring to being sore after labour though, or just because of the 'rhoids??

TarkaTheOtter · 29/07/2013 22:39

I must have been lucky because despite an extended 2nd degree tear and 30mins of stitching by an obstetrician supervised by a consultant because it was a complicated tear, I never had any pain down there after birth.

I did insist on epidural, plus local anasthetic, plus gas and air for the actual stitching though!

a lovely friend suggested not going too slimline with pads, boots thicker ones made sitting down far more comfortable!
I was wondering if this thread was a bit tongue in cheek, my waters broke early so we had to pack a hospital bag quickly, dh Googled and first list he found said take tennis balls for massage, didn't seem essential and we didn't stop to find any! (didn't have pads etc at this point, dh had to buy them too!)

MultipleMama · 30/07/2013 13:49

I didn't gave 'roids they were just slight soreness after labor.

Friend gave me her spare box of pads - to put it better. Haha.

I start adding to my nag now and then go through it all nearly the last weeks.

I use always pads and then put tucks on top. Until I feel back to normal haha.

I have 11 wks to go yet, but I've been told that you must have:

  • A jug to pour warm water on yourself when you have your first pee
  • Something to keep you and DH occupied e.g. music, magazines
  • Paper and pen (not sure why!)
  • Sanitary towels
  • Snacks
  • Camera (fully charged)
  • Dark nightdress/pyjamas/dressing gown
  • Socks
  • Birth plan and maternity notes

fifi - where did you get the frozen peas?

My essentials would be change for the phone and fruit. Hospital food was dire where I was - no fresh fruit or veg and my body craved healthy stuff (it hadn't before or since!).

mrsm22 · 30/07/2013 20:05

I took in my hospital bag:- a nightie, socks, clean underwear that was comfortable, a few outfits for baby (baby grows and beats and hats and mits as my baby was December time), pads from mother are for the bleeding, toiletry bag with toothbrush etc, nappies and cotton wool for baby, a cooling spray for labour which I found very good, birth plan and notes, and some snacks as hospital food is not the best. I'd recommend taking some biscuits, fruit and some snack bars or something. And something comfy to wear to come home in.

lockie1983 · 30/07/2013 20:23

Cartons of apple juice. I drank a crate of them during labour. Didn't even open my carefully packed bag !!! I also didn't have a "dreaded first poo" it - ahem tmi alert - slipped out and was nothing like the horror I'd been promised. I credit the juice Wink

And salty snacks for afterwards.

Ooh and a pretty hair band for scraped back hair and a lipstick. A few hours later i Put up my hair, washed my face and put on some lippy and felt a million dollars.
