im 40weeks + 1 day, 6 days ago i had a show, (i think) but i been leaking watery stuff every now and again so had it checked out and they said its just some of my mucous plug

however this morning i have had pink water leakage, is this normal? has anyone else had this?

i dont particularly want to go all the way to hosp again if its just the mucous, but will go obviously if no girls seem to have had it but im hoping they have (if that makes sense)

no other pains, or contractions by the way

found this

If your waters do break before you go into labour, don't panic! Put on a sanitary towel for protection this will also make it easier to see the colour of the fluid you are losing. The amount of fluid you lose may vary. It may be a slight trickle or a large "gush". The fluid is almost clear with a yellow tinge, and possibly a little bloodstained to begin with. It can be quite a shock if the waters do come out in a big gush by the end of pregnancy, there can be about 800ml of fluid.

If there is a lot of fluid, a sanitary pad will not be adequate and an old hand towel while undignified is more practical, especially if you need to travel by car to hospital or the birth centre. You may also wish to protect the car seat with a plastic sheet. If it is a small trickle every now and again, it is important to make sure it is not leakage of urine, which can also happen in late pregnancy (in my experience most women do know the difference!)

It is important that, regardless of how many weeks pregnant you are when your waters break, you should be seen fairly quickly for assessment (even if you are not having contractions). Once the waters have broken, there is less protection against getting an infection, which can sometimes track upwards from the vagina into the womb. Some hospitals will admit you to the delivery ward, while others may see you in the antenatal clinic or antenatal assessment unit. If you are planning a home birth, ring your midwife and she will probably come to your house to assess you there.

Once you have been examined, provided you are at least 37 weeks pregnant, you can usually choose to be induced or to wait and see if you go into labour. About nine out of ten women, who are at least 37 weeks pregnant, give birth naturally within 24-48 hours of their waters breaking.

That's exactly how my labour started too - spent a few hours wondering if it really was my waters (much more of a trickle than a gush) or whether I'd just embarrassingly lost all bladder control. Sure enough, about 3 hours later, I started having mild contractions and DS was born the next day. So, good luck! It sounds like it might all be starting for you!

bubbly1973 · 09/06/2006 09:52

manicmumday, was yours pink and watery or clear and water? and was this on your first pregnancy or 2nd?

We see the fertility doc on July 5 so will find out after that, doing an internet sperm test for dp this weekend, to see who that goes
Fingers crossed and wow looks like you'll have your little baby very soon!
Good luck for the delivery - breathe and stay calm and stay upright if you dare :)

lucykate · 09/06/2006 12:43

pink watery leakage - sounds to me like your waters have gone. mine were pink and watery with my first and went with a gush. if i were you i would go see your midwife. after mine went, it took about 4-5 hrs for contractions to start.

good luck and will look out for your birth announcement Smile

HenniPenni · 09/06/2006 13:01

Hi, Waters broke at 22 weeks I'm 23 weeks on Tuesday been at hospital a week and when first arrived was just trickles literally 3-5 pads later it stopped but since yesterday water has been going from normal discharge to absolutely nothing to having a gush of day of amniotic fluid like a pinky) peach colour, apparently doctors said it's normal has anyone carried on pregnancy and got to full term or 36weeks after waters breaking my first boy , the boy I always wanted.
