6wks post MC & 2 quick (possibly stupid) questions

Hi. Firstly, when do I "absolutely" need to see a GP/Midwife? I really don't see the point going until last possible moment I need to in order to get my 12wk scan as I did all that last time and it felt too early, and it was. I was thinking of leaving it to 8/9 weeks, what do you think?

Secondly, because of my MC, would I be allowed an early scan at an EPU clinic? I doubt it, and am willing to go private but wondered what the "rules" are. MC started at 6 weeks and took 3 weeks so am really reluctant to do anything early this time.

Sorry, the title should read "6wks pregnant (4 months post MC)"

Hi congratulations on your pregnancy Smile

First appts with mw are usually made between 8 & 10 weeks so that answers your first question!

Secondly, you will only usually get referred to an FAU (early assessment unit) if you suffer a bleed in the early weeks. I got pregnant post mc & bled in wk 6 so was referred & all was fine. I do know how hard it is, but please try not to worry unnecessarily - going to the FAU would not necessarily help anyway as sometimes a heartbeat is difficult to detect in the early weeks.

I think you really need to just trust they everything is ok for now. I remember well the anguish waiting for the 12 wk scan so I do appreciate what you're going through.

Good luck!

Ps, are you taking folic acid?

It depends on your gp and epau. I have had 4 mc and after my first (a mmc at 13 weeks) I was told to call the epau myself next time I was pregnant.
The second mc I phoned the epau and had a scan at 6 weeks. The same with the 3rd mc when I was then put under the care of a consultant.
In fact I didn't go back to my gp to let them know I was pregnant following my first as it seemed a waste of theirs and my time.
I am now 35+5 with my 5th pregnancy and my mc clinic ref me for my booking in and dating scan at the hospital and I never bothered with the gp directly.

Yes, I am taking Pregnecare and as already have DS1 I know the app is mainly filling out the form and I am really looking after myself so hence why want to delay appointment as much as possible. I'm 6 weeks tomorrow so plan for next couple of weeks is to just keep busy and try not to think too much about it. I'll start the ball rolling then I guess and what will be will be. I'm on thyroxine (175mg a day) so I'll have to go GP re that anyway.

Thanks both. Pregnancy post MC is a completely different thing isn't it.
