Appointment for renal scan, no explanation

Hello,

I had my 28 week bloods last week at my midwife appointment. In the same appointment, I told my midwife I was having pain under my ribcage. She thought it might be gall stones so I ended up having an abdominal scan, which looked at my all of my organs- they were all fine.

A few days later I received an appointment letter for a renal scan, for a few weeks' time. I don't know if it's a follow up to the scan I've already had, if it's something to do with my bloods, or if it's because they found a trace of protein in my urine.

I've been trying to get in touch with my midwife but I can't answer my phone at work, and so I've not been able to speak to her yet.

I'm guessing it's nothing urgent as the scan is so far in the future, but Dr google has been no help so was wondering if anyone here knows has any ideas?

Thanks.

Ring your doctor and ask?

You could also contact the hospital too to ask them the reason for the scan (if you can't get hold of midwife). In my area, when a scan is requested the clinician has to give a reason with the request.
