I appear to either have a bug or have given myself food poisoning. horrific D&V all night.

I'm 17 weeks pregnant, do I need to seek medical advice or anything. I feel slightly better now and am sipping water.

If you're keeping water down you should be fine, the only worry is if you get dehydrated. The baby only takes things it needs through the placenta so will be happy to leave whatever bug you have alone.

However, if you get worse or get flu-like symptoms I'd get checked - listeriosis is a fairly rare type of food poisoning and the only one that can be dangerous to baby. You usually get flu symptoms with that as well as a poorly tummy I think, but I'm no expert.

If you're worried though it can't hurt to call the midwife or GP to put your mind at rest.

Plenty of rest and fluids either way! Hope that helps.

awesome, thankyou. I don't feel too bad, just cant stray too far from the loo haha.

I'll keep an eye out for flu like symptoms though.
